Never use Big Buffalo Crossing Canoe and Kayak under any circumstances. They will disappoint. My friend and I live in different states and have been meeting for a week long fall canoe trip for over thirty years. This year we were meeting in KY to do a week on the Green River. We called BBC to do the hauling of our private canoes and move our vehicle to the take out point. We spoke with Barry numerous times prior to our arrival, and arranged to meet on Saturday morning at their business location. When we arrived, there was no one at the shop so we waited for about an hour. We finally called them at the number listed on their sign (and another one we had reached them at previously) and got an answering machine. We left several messages over the next several hours but never received a return call - and still have not. After attempting to reach them for over 6 hours, we finally gave up and found a camp site for the night. We finally found another hauler later in the week but a rain front moved in during that time and raised the river level to a point where they were not allowed to put us on the river. We ended up spending our "canoe trip" week in a campsite at the Mammoth Cave National Park because BBC is completely incompetent and should never be used unless you are looking for a way to totally destroy your plans. The National Park was very nice but was not in our plans. I would recommend that you NEVER use BBC. They are not reliable, obviously have no business acumen, and seem to see customer service as optional.

There is nothing to dislike. The operator, Barry Turner, does an excellent job delivering you and your canoe to the location you choose. He is prompt in picking you up. His equipment is excellent. The cost is reasonable.

We rented one canoe for the six hour trip from Rio to Munfordville and we had a great time! The rental includes life jackets, paddles and a dry bag for electronics. Barry was great about telling us about the area and showing us interesting things to check out on our trip. He made sure we had everything we needed to have a great trip. The river area was so nice and tranquil. We spotted some deer and a turtle sun bathing. This was my first time in a canoe and I had the time of my life. Highly recommended! Bring some water, snacks and sunscreen and have the best time ever out on the Green River!

3 couples with 3 canoes and one water dog drifted down the beautiful Green River with gorgeous views and had a great time! Go here before you go any where else!

A small pop run business, with top notch equipment and staff of one. Did the 3 hour four mile trip on a Sunday morning. Only one other canoe besides us on the entire trip. Eagles, Otters, Turtles, Bass, Birds of all kinds and Trees and most of all peace and quiet. Like being the first early explorer of the region. Gentle stream no rapids on Johnson Springs to Munfordville portion. Dozens of springs and rock formations to see and experience. Hardly had to paddle at all. The owner was very nice assisted with gear and made us feel at home. Will be returning to this place again. Truly words cannot express how we were treated. Like we were old friends or family. He even showed us a little known trail down river from his base camp to the Battle of the Bridge site about a mile downstream. Open a closed fence for us and gave great directions. He has discount $2.00 off coupons as well. The three hour trip was only $40 for canoe and two people. He provides all gear life vests, paddles and dry sacks for your gear. Showed us sites like sink holes and farms on way into the drop site. Carried the canoe down to the river and helped us gear up. In today's world it was great to find such old fashioned service. Told us things and places to watch for. This was the greatest canoe experience I have ever had in the eastern United States! Only drawback was signage getting to the base camp location, his sign was covered up by a reunion sign and the road sign had tree branches grown down over them, but when I told him about that he had removed the branches and sign by the time we had returned down river. Bring your camera and picnic stuff too. The city park is adjoining the base camp and has shelters, picnic tables and a walking trail and of course the giant bronze Buffalo statue. Old bridge supports go over his base camp and only add to the experience. You will be pleased with the entire operation. It is located just pass the square headed toward the Green River bridge on the right across the street from the Four Wheeler dealer and then quick down the side street that angles off and then onto River Rd. a <|> type intersection.
