I had the greatest time at Hidden River Cave! The employees were BEYOND friendly. I did the zipline and tour, a fun way to spend a few hours! The Museum was great, offering lots of history. If I happen to end up in Kentucky, I'd love to visit again.

Found Hidden River Cave because the tours at Mammoth Cave were booked. The staff at Hidden River Cave was so friendly and worked with us to plan an awesome adventure. Gary led our group of three on the 5 hour "extreme" tour. He was very knowledgeable about the cave system and took many opportunities to teach us about the history of the cave, the wildlife, and more. He also documented our trip with some amazing photos. We had a great time and became part of the "extreme team" by doing some caving through the water. I would recommend this trip for any time of year, as the temperature in the cave is 54 year round!

Saw a sign for this place along the road and decided to stop. Very glad we did. It is not one of those caves like the ones advertised with the stalactites. It starts out as a small building in the middle of a small town. It has a great museum where you can learn about caves and see animals that live in them. There is also a great story about a man who was once trapped in a cave. After visiting the museum, you take an elevator down to the outside and walk towards the sinkhole. The guide Mikey, was excellent in explaining things and answering questions. What made this tour interesting was the history behind the hole. Make sure you wear a jacket because it gets pretty cold in there.

Being a country girl I was right at home. The cave was mind inspiring ,so lovely. I love Ky. and I always stop at Horse Cave, my favorite town. I recommend it to anyone. It offers such charm, friendliness and wonder. Don't drive by but stop .. You will regret it if you drive on by.

We have been to better caves but this one is nice, we liked the history of the cave and the old machinary to pump up water. It was also nice to see the cave crickets and blind white crawfish.

What a fun find! Great information, excellent guide (Gary), and fun for all. The cave tour was a perfect mix of history and geology, plus a recurring conservation message. Very impressive video to start off and drive home the importance of stewardship of these natural treasures. The rappelling was awesome! Lots of fun, I felt totally safe, and really enjoyed it.

We were on our way to Nashville and had a couple hours to spare and this little place was an excellent detour. We were looking for something outdoorsy and entertaining for a short amount of time and this place is right off the highway. We did rappelling and cave tour all in a couple of hours. The cave tour is not very long walking wise but nice to see, and the tour guide knew a lot about the history of the cave. You can take however long you want for the tour, they say about an hour but we did it in 30 min or so, we are fast walkers. The rappelling experience was really fun, especially for us first-timers. Scary at first but they're with you the whole way. Gary and Charolay, the owners, are very nice people and even gave each of us a $5 discount, AFTER we already agreed to pay the regular price for the rappelling and tour, very sweet of them. They got us ready very quickly and told us a lot about the history of the place. They even took pictures of us rappelling and sent them to us. You get very personal attention here and they tailor your experience to your needs. Perhaps it's not a great Mammoth Cave tour, and it's not a whole day experience ( I wouldn't drive 3 hours here just for this) but if you have a couple hours to spare this place is what you're looking for! Gift shop is pretty nice too. We highly recommend it.

We did the 5 hour cave trip with Gary and had a blast! He took great photos of our time in the cave and sent them along with a map of where we had been. The staff at the museum were very friendly and it is obvious that Gary loves leading tours. He was as curious and excited about the cave as we were. If you want a real adventure in Kentucky this is it!

I think this was awesome! We found this on Groupon and did the zip line and the repel line and then the tour of the cave and it was awesome. I know that are nice bigger caves around but this was a great starter.

Fun for the whole family! Guides where awesome and really took their time with the kids. Both boys decided to t repel ( which was their first time ) and needless to say I was one nervous dad. However they took the time with each boy individually and walked them through the repel. Very impressed with GARY, CHAROLAY, CLAYTON!!

Highly recommend the wild cave tour. So much fun, and you get to really interact with the cave (crawl through the mud, touch the walls, etc. as it is a "living" cave) unlike most caves around the area, where you have to stay on the paths! Always great fun with Peggy as your tour guide!

This is one of the younger cave systems, so you're not going to see as many of the amazing formations as what you would if you were to visit Mammoth. It's also only 10 miles, where I think they said that Mammoth was 400. There is a very neat history to this cave, that made the attraction more interesting, including the restoration and salvation of the cave itself. We started off meeting Maria for our 60 minute cave tour. She had a lot of information, was very nice and kept us interested. She was very conscious of safety, which I liked. After the tour, we met Charolay and Gary - who have been married for over 30 years and were AMAZING!! I was pretty nervous to go Zip Lining and Repelling and they made jokes and kept me comfortable the entire time. For the repelling, Charolay offered to go down at the same time as me. Made for a perfect experience.I cannot say enough about how the people absolutely make this place. It has a lot of natural beauty, but I enjoyed it so much more thanks to our guides.

With friendly, energetic staff and a welcoming environment, Hidden Rive Cave and American Cave Museum gave my student group a really great and hand-on caving experience! We were able to experience the depths of Hidden Rive Cave by the light of our headlamps and were able to go off the beaten path and climb through small tunnels in the cave (challenge by choice of course). After the caving adventure from an obviously experienced and knowledgable tour guide Peggy, our group went repelling down the side of the cave mouth. This was a lot of fun for everyone and provided some great photo opportunities. We also toured the American Cave Museum, which was both informative and interactive, making it an enjoyable attraction for adults and children alike. Overall, we had an amazing experience at Hidden Rives Cave and I would recommend stopping by for anyone visiting Kentucky!

My family had a great time at the Hidden River Cave tour, zip lining and rappelling. My daughter was very nervous about zip lining and they suited her up and took her up there twice and waiting for her no less than 20 minutes to zip line. Charolay has more patience than I do. Gary was a great tour guide. He's so knowledgeable about the cave since he grew up in the area and would go exploring the cave as a kid before it was ever open to visitors. All the staff was very enthusiastic and entertaining, definitely worth the stop.
