That is what you'll say after you visit Cub Run.Yes, it's a bit of a drive, but truly worth your time and effort.Tours are offered four times a day, every day except Monday and Tuesday.Eat lunch in Munfordville before or after you visit, because your choices at the nearby exits are limited. (Stop at the rest area and look for coupons for both the cave and your meal.) Cave management is not much for putting up signs, so you're on your own there.Coming from I-65 south, turn right heading through town and look for highway 88, then follow it to the cave, 20 or so curvy miles [do not get in a hurry!] The visitor center/gift shop are on the left. Be on the lookout for horses and buggies, as this is in the midst of an Amish community. Note that you take a short (5 min?) drive from the VC to the cave itself. As mentioned in other reviews, Linda is an EXCELLENT tour guide who enjoys what she does.I talked with her at length after my tour; she is a native of the area and the cave is basically [my term] one of her 'babies,' she loves it so much. The cave is an unspoiled gem, having been discovered in the 50s and not open to visitors until relatively recently. Go see for yourself and let Linda tell you the story.

If you are in the Mammoth Cave area, you should not miss this incredible cave with its fascinating history. You can take a scenic drive from the Cave City area and even incorporate a ferry en route to the cave if you are driving through the national park on the way to Cub Run Cave. The cave is filled with beautiful formations, and the wooden walkway throughout makes the tour very easy. Furthermore, Linda (who from what I gather is the only tour guide the cave has) is clearly passionate about the cave, its history, and its beauty; she is a top-notch and friendly guide. She took the time to answer all questions in a knowledgeable and personable manner. Do yourself a favor and take this worthy side-trip to augment your visit to Mammoth Cave.

This cave tour left my partner and I absolutely speechless. I've been on at least a dozen cave tours and this is by far the best I have ever seen. It is pristine, filled with gorgeous formations, and has a fascinating history. Our guide, Linda, has such a passion and love for the cave, her enthusiasm makes the tour. We were lucky enough to be in a group with a couple and two children, so there were just 5 of us to enjoy the majesty and beauty of Cub Run Cave. If you've seen pictures of Lechuguilla Cave in New Mexico, the formations here rival those, and they are close enough to touch, although of course you don't. Flash photography is allowed, and you will see bats, cave crawfish, and cave crickets. There are extremely rare formations everywhere you turn. The history itself is fascinating as well. Just make sure to call before you go, the wonderful Linda is the only guide. If she is on a tour the gift shop will be closed but it's worth the wait. The best $14.00 you've ever spent. If you can only go on one cave tour in the area, skip Mammoth and do this one. When you think "cave" this is what you have always imagined. It was the cave tour of my dreams.

This small cave was very cool to explore with a small group and a knowledgable guide, Linda. The cave tour seemed like it was your own private cave tour and Linda was a wealth of knowledge and very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful cave and wonderful experience. Thank you, Linda. You get a chance to explore a cave like you are discovering it for the first time. Not that you are crawling through tiny passageways, but that it is untrammeled without crowds, noise, and distractions. You can imagine how the discovery could feel. We also saw lots of sleeping bats, cave crawfish and crickets. For my son, especially, it is ideal. Great memories. The cave had been previously closed but it is now open.

We showed up at the gift shop area (Where you buy tickets and are later led down in your car to the cave parking area) and glad we showed up the early tour. As a result we got an almost private tour (one other couple) through an amazing cave. Linda, our tour guide, is passionate about the cave and it comes through as you get amazing detail described throughout. Something that doesn't happen on the Mammoth tour due to sheer tourism size. However, this isn't a small cave, even if buried in the middle of nowhere. The stories behind it are interesting and it's been kept intact due to being closed off for 50 years due to family disputes! I would take every visitor that came to Kentucky within a few hours of it to this particular cave given the quality of both cave and tour. It was strikingly peaceful and mesmerizing as well some spectacular formations and history!

The entrance to this cave is not at the Gift Shop area, after purchasing your tickets you will get back in your vehicle and follow the tour guide back a country road to the cave entrance further back on the property. So if you arrive at the cave and the parking lot is empty, do not assume the cave is closed, if a tour is in progress the Gift Shop could be locked until the guide returns after the tour. This cave was locked up back in the 1950's and escaped damage from humans that other caves in this area experienced before we realized the great harm we were causing and this cave's natural beauty has been preserved. Our tour guide, Linda was very knowledgeable and you could easily tell just how much she loves her job. This cave contains several creatures and Linda was able to locate one of each variety during our tour. We got to see salamanders, crickets, a crawfish and a bat. The path is a wooden walkway that has a netting over the wet areas to prevent slipping. The entire tour only contained about five steps so this is a great cave tour for an older person that might not be able to handle hundreds of steps that are in some caves.Gift shop contained many interesting items. The website still lists a restaurant, but there is currently no restaurant.Highly recommended!

This million year old cave was hollowed out by a forceful stream of water. The reamining carved out rock along with stalagmites and stalagtites are very interesting. The host, Linda, was very knowledgable regarding history and details.

This cave was a real surprise . It is in pristine condition as it has not been open to the public very long. It is a privately owned operation and is currently up for sale. Please hope a philanthropic organization discovers this gem to preserve it. The guide Linda , was so delightful and knowledgable . The would defiantly recommend this stop for your visit to the area!MZC

This cave was a little off the interstate but so worth the drive! While the cave is for sale, it is still open with tour times 4x a day Wed. thru Sunday. The cave is enormous with a wooden walkway throughout. The tour guide Linda is very knowledgeable and clearly has a love for the cave. She gets excited to point out the creatures that live in the cave as well as the formations. This was by far the best money I've ever spent on a tour.

My mom and I are huge cave explorers. We were looking at seeing Cub Run Cave today and it was a journey to get there. As we pulled up, we noticed that the place was completely empty. Not one person or car was there. There is a "For Sale" on the outside of the property area. Sad news, since it seemed to be opened a week or so ago. All merchandise was in the store and everything. So disappointing.

I took my 15-year old daughter and her friend to see this cave and all of use were amazed!! I have never seen 15-year olds so awe inspired over something natural (it does not have screens or buttons and it does not text). We actually visited several caves (including Mammoth) and this cave was our favorite, The cave is exquisite and you are truly in awe as you go through the tour. You must go see this cave - the tour was so personal and up-close. This cave is a treasure and I could go through it again and again. Linda - the guide - was incredible. She was so knowledgeable and friendly. The girls thought she was the best and made the tour!!! While Mammoth Cave is a place to go - you must make this a stop as well - you will be glad that you did. We will definitely go back and take in all the beauty!! Thank you Linda for the best experience we had on our trip to Kentucky!!!!

I noticed the sign while driving to Nolin Lake. After being at the lake for a week I decided to take my family and check out the cave. I can't tell you how impressed all of us were. The tour was amazing and the tour guide was exceptional. I could go back several more times and see something I missed each time. It is not that far from the interstate and well worth the drive.

This Cave he is so beautiful. A three-quarter mile walk through the Cave. I work tour guide was very knowledgeable. A very easy walk. The tour guide took her time. The the stalagtights and stalagmites were so beautiful. This cave is said to be the most beautiful cave in the area. It's worth the drive off the beaten path. A great gift shop.

I've been going to Nolin Lake for 12 years now and just this past weekend was able to experience Cub Run Cave! It was a rainy Saturday and we couldn't get the boat out, so we decided to check out the cave, and I'm so glad we did! The tour is approx 1.5hrs and I believe a 3/4mi walk round-trip. The walkways are boarded and have chicken wire on them to help prevent slipping, this is also nice because you will not get your shoes muddy! For two adults our total was $28, other people on the tour had coupons, but I am unsure where to find those. All around good trip, was very impressed, I believe it is equivalent to Mammoth cave on beauty. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
