First time visit to Maine...found Coast Encounters advertisement on local "fun pages". And wow...what a find! Carol was amazing! Family of 5 with 3 girls - ages 10, 9 and 4. Carol had tons of patience and was great with the kids! She took us to a local tidal pool and our adventure started! Luckily she had water shoes for everyone...we were not prepared for this outing! The time flew by and we encountered and identified local and invasive crabs (even one with eggs) , tons of periwinkles and dog whelks..(all new vocabulary thanks to Carol)...Learned about algae and different types of seaweed. All of the kids had an amazing time...and mom and dad were incredibly entertained as well. We were able to discover a world we knew very little about and loved the authenticity of the experience. Watching my kids enjoy this new experience was amazing! They continued to talk about the experience the rest of the week...remember to use all the right names...and watching their excitement and eagerness to turn over rocks and discover what might be living beneath them...priceless.
