Camped here with a paddling club and had a great weekend. Clean, well-kept, affordable. My campsite next to the river was great; friends who stayed in the cabins loved them too. Restaurant and bar are very convenient if you don't want to cook. Atmosphere among the campers was relaxed and convivial but never rowdy. We brought our own boats but used Riverdrivers' shuttles to the Dead River put-in, then paddled right back to the campground--a luxury at the end of a long, exciting day. Looking forward to coming back!

I originally booked with another company. After quite a snafu, they called Riverdrivers and booked me with them. I walked up just before we carried the raft to the river. They briefed be, put me on a boat with a team and we were off. They treated me just like one of their customers. The guides were great. Cookies and tea at the half-way point were nice. The rapids gave way to a nice relaxing paddle down the river. It was a great morning with great people followed by a great lunch. I'd do it again in a minute. Next time, high flow level 5 rapids!

By going to the Dead River & staying with Andy & Karen, you will be getting a genuine Maine experience. Ed Webb's, Andy's Dad started ~40 years ago, by shuttling boaters who would otherwise get lost in the many logging roads. He is a true Maine woodsman, & he is still around, chopping wood for the guests who stay at Karen's & Andy's upgraded pub, restaurant & campground. Andy, Kare & their staff work their heart out to make their guests welcome & are always around for a good chat. It's a great experience.

This was such a great place to visit. The guides was great. The campground was next to the river and was great to wake up to the beautiful sight. The restaurant's food was great and enjoyed the atmosphere there. The Appleton's house was wonderful to stay in with all the comforts of home. The other guests in the campground were very friendly and great to get to know.
