The trails give you a number of options: head up to the Hamilton House for a stroll in the gardens, enjoy the grounds. The full loop trail starts along the river, circles back through the woods. If you want a shorter walk, several trails cut across one side of loop to other. Great place to bring your dog

We were almost the only ones in the woods except for a woman, her baby, and a dog. They did not disturb the tranquility of the woods. The trails were pretty easy except for the tree roots in some spots. On the ground, there were pieces of tree that we could use as walking sticks. We parked at the Hamilton House and the kind women there gave us directions to the trails. There is a clean restroom at the Hamilton House you can use. We didn't see a bird or a bug on the trails. The river was always to our right. There were benches were you could sit and just look at the water. It made for a lovely afternoon with the trees as our canopy.

Off the beaten path, but worth it. Easy walk along the water and through the woods. Just watch out for the tree roots. If you want more of a workout, take a few of the intersecting trails. I find it easier to take the River Run path and come back on the Bridle path.

My wife and I came here at the recommendation of the innkeeper where we stayed. The hiking was somewhat reminiscent of Big Basin in California which was great. Lots of small trails to hike, the terrain ranging for easy to moderate. The views overlooking the water were spectacular and the overall feel of the park was incredibly peaceful. Saw several other hikers out there and everyone was very friendly,

My friend and I were house sitting in So Berwick for my family. They left a list of things we might like to do and Vaughan woods was on the list. Even though it is very cold and windy the day we went you did not feel it when you were among the beautiful hemlock trees. It was one of the nicest snow shoeing experiences we have had. We snow shoed along the frozen but beautiful Salmon River, then we went up and snow shoed on the bridle loop. It was so calming and beautiful. We will definitely do it again when we have the occasion to be in Maine.

This State Park offers an easy but consistently hilly 2.5mi (appx) loop hike with various cuts along the way to shorten the loop. Taking the Bridle path will bring you through a magical looking forest with a well-worn path for half of the trip. The other half of the trip takes you over the River Run which is right along the river and offers several benches with scenic views. This part of the trail offers many small hills that really keep your heart rate up. It is truly a beautiful hike that keeps you interested for relatively minimal effort. I will definitely be back.

Easy paths to follow strolling through woods near the river. Restful, relaxing, and nice to hear the wind through the trees.

I love coming here with my family to do a couple hours of walking. The trails are great but do have a lot of roots that can be harder for younger children to navigate. They have picnic tables and a small calisthenics area that my kids like to play on.

Given the time of year, the trails were covered with lots of ice, so walking was difficult at times. However, it was still beautiful walking through pine trees. There was also a historic site (the Hamilton house?) which was cool.

Gorgeous site with lots of trails through the woods and along the Salmon Falls River. Dogs on a leash welcome. You can also walk onto the grounds of the Hamilton House, a beautiful mansion and perennial gardens that is run by Historic New England.

Nice parcel of land along the Salmon Falls River. Easy to spot wildlife. Nice overlook of the Hamilton House.

Vaughan Woods is a great place to take a short or long hike through the woods. The hike overlooks the Salmon Falls River, with excellent views of the water way, as well as historical sights such as the Hamilton House. If you want a relatively easy, but enjoyable hike through the woods, come here.

I like going here with small children. The paths are well taken care of, and are easy terain for walking. Some hills/steep spots, but even young children can walk it easily. I grew up comming here on Sunday afternnoons for family walks. It is a short walk, but is right along the Salmon Falls River and has some nice views.

This park is great to try with a family...(no stroller though too many roots) once you get to the Jewitt house its beautiful place to walk around and photograph with kids. I would def recommend it if you are trying to find something to do for a few hours.

Not especially good, nor bad. Just a quiet place to come and walk, talk, sit, and picnic.Nice dense trees.
