This is a great little gallery in the center of town. You can enjoy artwork, mostly paintings, with strong Maine themes -- the sea, the scenery, the rugged life of the coast. The work is beautiful -- and most of the art is better priced than what you would find on the mainland, especially for Monhegan artists. You should definitely go in, enjoy, and possibly consider a purchase.

We have been going to Monhegan for about 30 years and always stop in to see artwork at the Lupine. It is a great way to see a sampling of lots of great art in one place and if lucky, to purchase something to take home. We consider this rally wonderful art- equivalent to what you would see in better galleries in NYC or Washington, DC, where we live now. A major part of the Monhegan story is the role it has played in American Art. We have about 4 paintings we purchased at the Lupine Gallery and each one brings back wonderful memories of times on the island. The owners, Bill Boynton and Jackie Boegel, could not be nicer and they know the artists personally as well as island history. They appreciate those who just want to browse and never make us feel compelled to buy anything- the artwork does that al by itself! They also have artist supplies for sale and last summer we purchase several items for our nephew so he could try his hand at catching that Monhegan experience. He fell in love with the island too and the Lupine Gallery played a nice part of that. They have larger oils, watercolors in all sizes, framed or unframed or you can have them frame it for you. They also have pottery and other things when available from artist. They even pack it up nicely so you can get it onto the Laura-B without damaging it! They are open extended season as well. And don’t miss the upstairs loft area.
