Pack a lunch and stop here to eat. Sit and look out over the ocean and Otter Cove. Don't forget a jacket as a cool breeze may be blowing in.

Well, I am certainly biased: Acadia is my favorite place in the whole world - I just cannot live without visiting it twice a year and hike pretty much non-stop there. Interesting that we never walked as far as Otter Cliffs simply because we were always hiking in the mountains. This time we finished one of our favorite hikes, Gorham Mountain Trail and Cadillac Cliffs, and had some free time to walk from the Gorham Mountain parking lot to the beautiful Otter Cliffs. It was delightful: the views are breathtaking, the walk is easy and relaxing. People just drive along the Ocean Drive and they miss a lot: the most enjoyable views are ready for you only if you hike or walk. Needless to say that we will be coming back many-many times.

This is probably my favorite place I have ever been. The views are just spectacular, and the sound of the waves against the rock are like something out of a storybook. There are never too many people (I think because they don't think to get out of their cars and walk the trail to the Cliffside). This is usually the place where whoever I bring gets hooked. It feels almost like you have walked into one of those stories you've always heard about Maine's cliffs and the ocean spray. I'll use my banker as an example:I was planning another trip to Acadia and I was talking with my banker about how excited I was. She told me, "I've always wanted to go to Maine. I just always have this vision of myself sitting on a cliff listening to the ocean and being blown by the wind..." She began trailing off and looking towards the ceiling. I laughed and told her, "You know all those post cards you see of Maine and how beautiful it is? Go to Acadia, and go to Otter Cliff before you go anywhere else. It's like every postcard in real life."She's been twice now. Haha.

This is a great place to stop and see the splendor and power of the ocean and experience Maine coast. You can sit and watch the waves for hours, hop along rocks, or do a little walking. No matter what you should get the true experience of what makes the park so great. Well worth stopping.

Have driven the loop road many times. But, this time, took a multi-hour ranger program. It was excellent. Walked about 1.5 miles from a parking lot along the shore to Otter Point. Sorry I missed it all these trips. get out of your car, and take a walk along the cliffs/trails. great views, and you get some exercise.

This is a must see. It is what the Maine coast is all about. Great views, waves crashing, the smell of the salt air, and a climb around on the rocks!

The trail the runs along the cost offers some stunning views of the area. We went on a stormy day and the waves were pounding against the shore adding to the beauty of the area. This is definitely worth a stop while drive thought the park.

spectacular sight along Park Loop Road, with pink granite, big pounding waves, overall beautiful scenery

This is a fantastic spot to watch sunrise. It is easy to access from a nearby parking lot, or just park in the right lane of the road, which is allowed in many places along loop road. Wear good shoes, with support as you are walking on rocks. Get down to the water's edge and look right. Amazing sights.

Spectacular views! If you have young kids, stay behind the wall at the top. Otherwise climb down just below and sit on the rocks and enjoy God's beautiful land and sea! I could have sat here for hours! Small parking lot so don't go on a weekend day due to large crowds.

We took the free shuttle to sand beach and after looking around there for a bit we decided to walk to otter cliffs. This was a good walk and it was the weaken with the record breaking high temperatures so the crowds were rather overwhelming. Nevertheless as we continue towards the cliffs the crowds started to get a bit more manageable and then we started noticing the beautiful large rocks above the ocean. Quiet a few people were taking chairs to sit on the rocks and enjoy the incredibly beautiful day. There is such an amazing combination of beautiful things, the forest on one side and the very scenic boulders with the ocean below and a beautiful blue sky.We also saw black guillemots, common eiders and a loon. There are some places to park along the way and you can walk to the better boulder areas from there so you don't have to do the lengthy walk we did if you have a car. It is a nice walk although it would probably be more enjoyable when there are fewer people.A very beautiful area worth visiting especially if you have nice weather.

Well ok we saw it from the road, but missed going to the actual viewing area and since the road is one way through that area of the park we could not turn around to go back. The sign there was not very noticeable. Looked like it would have been some spectacular viewing though as we drove by.

A beautiful stop where you see nothing but the green of the forest and the blue of the cove/ocean. Big boulders which are easy to climb. Great photo ops

I went down from the trail to the cliff. That offers great view. You must wear sneakers as that will be comfortable. If you are not really looking for a hike then on the way back take the road its easier to go up using the road
