My husband and I were in Maine and looking for something to do.We saw an add for A Trailer Park Christmas .It was a great ! The actors and actresses did an unbelievable job.We laughed so hard we cried. It may not be for everyone because of the language, but that was the setting a Trailer Park.I would go see it again. The theater is an asset to Biddeford.I wish I lived closer so I could go to many more plays. There isn't a bad seat in the house. If you live in the area shame on you if you do not take advantage of this gem !!!! They sell coffee, water and snacks to to support the arts.

It's a community theater that doesn't need to take a "backseat" to professional theaters. The talent is great and the theater is beautiful. It has been totally restored to it's original state. Well worth a visit.

We made reservations at www.citytheater.org and watched "The Mouse Trap" 10/26/14 . There was nearly a full house! It was an excellent show and the actors did an excellent job! Visit their website for the 2014 and 2015 season shows. It will be well worth your effort to attend their performances and visit a beautifully restored historic theater in Biddeford and visit some local restaurants on the same day. (Check Trip Advisor for restaurant reviews in this area.)

My son and, I visited Biddeford Theater Friday night. We saw a wonderful performance of Bingo. It was a last minute decision, I am glad we made. This theater is truly a great addition to downtown Biddeford. The ushers are energetic, and the staff is very helpful. I am looking forward to the next performance in December. Give this theater a chance you won't be disappointed!

City Theater has been thrilling audiences, under many incarnations, since its original completion as the Opera House in 1860: as both live theater venue and lateer as a movie palace. A huge fire destroyed the theater in 1894. It was redesigned and rebuilt by famous Maine architect John Calvin Stevens, reopening its doors in 1896. In the 1930's with the advent of film popularity it morphed into a movie house, and was name "City Theater" in 1955. The theater closed in 1963. It was then used for "storage" between 1971-75, and was reopened again in 1978 as the theater we know it to be today.I have attended theater productions here about 10 or so times in the 22 years I've lived in Maine, seeing plays such as "Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Lend Me a Tenor," "Urinetown" and the like. This visit's production was an invitational (preview) for "The Full Monty." The theater itself is a visual marvel, with wrap-around balcony and steep pitch to the upper level. The seats have all been refurbished, and air conditioning added for comfort. The stage is ample, and one is never very far from the action; while it is large enough to seat perhaps 400 patrons, it also has a sense of intimacy. This production, though not quite "perfect" yet, as after all, it was a preview.... was very good. I've actually never seen what I would refer to as a "bad show" here. I will come back again and again, so long as City Theater produces shows which are of interest to me.

The City Theater is a gorgeous place, a beautiful restoration of a Victorian theater. Make an evening of it with dinner downtown and great community theater. Stop into Elements afterwards for coffee/wine/beer and a snack.

Gorgeous interior, nicely restored. Gold gilt, red velvet, and great acoustics. A lovely place to see a play, musical or concert. A real gem.

Bottom line - if we'd seen it on Broadway, the ONLY difference would have been the quality of the sets. (They would have had $1M to spend on them). These folks did a great job. They delivered their lines well and could all sing. The 4 piece band was excellent also. GREAT JOB GUYS!!

A must go especially if you live in the area. Very historically renovated. Built in the age of theater design where if one were to whisper on the stage, the whole house will hear it without the aid of electronic. Take advantage of the partnership with Univ. of New England.

I've been to several productions at the City Theater and enjoyed all of them. Good acoustics, easy to see the stage from every seat in the house and always good performances.

This local theater has had a major rejuvenation inside. They run and produce shows using local talent. Every seat offers a good view with nice acoustics.

This theater has made great strides in terms of renovations and quality shows. We are never disappointed when we see a production here and the local thespians that star in the show have a lot of talent. The volunteers and staff that work the events are helpful and kind. It's a great place to see a play or enjoy a musical concert. You won't be disappointed.

We've had a few fun nights out at this theater. The theater itself is lovely, and while it's not broadway, the shows we've seen here have been professionally produced, and there's been some actual talent in the casts!

Shows, produced by wonderful directors, and superb actors from all over southern Maine, are such a peasant surprise! This theater is truly amazing with an balcony that provides excellent sound and viewing experiences!

I went to the Biddeford City Theater for a play and found the setting to be a fantastic space. It is not a huge space, so there is an intimacy that is very nice about it. The play itself was very professionally executed, including some physical comedy that showed the intense preparation of choreographers and actors. I felt the space would be equally nice for a vast array of performances. I've kept an eye on their productions ever since.
