This park has it all - a boat ramp for launching, swimming pool for the kids complete with a huge water slide, athletic fields, picnic areas, playgrounds for smaller kids and a fishing pier. This is a county park and believe you need to be a resident to enter.

Enjoyed this park all last summer, primarily boating. Bumpers on the ramps need to be replaced as they are worn, so when putting your put in or out of the water, try to locate a decent bumper to pull up along side of. Plenty of parking, lots of picnic areas and a nice pool.

Spacious, with very nice water views, boat launch, dog park, pools, picnic areas, and fishing(nobody ever catches anything worthwhile). To me, the park is not well maintained, with goose poop everywhere. It could use some landscaping, just like the rest of the state parks on Long Island. Not alot to do there, but relax. I wish the pools, even with the season passes, were alittle more affordable.

Wantagh Park is a very family-friendly and great county park. It has something for nearly every outdoor-loving person. It has a waterfront area where fishing is permitted, it has a boat launch, it has kids' playgrounds, it has picnic areas (some for which you need reservations), it has an excellent pool complex (summer only) with an interactive kids' pool, a diving pool, two water slides, an Olympic-size pool, and a shallow kiddie pool. Also, the park has baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a fitness trial, a nice three-mile path around the park that is good for strolling, jogging, and bike riding, and there is a dog park. There are boat slips available for rental, and there are bathrooms. I also recommend this place for birding. Since the park borders on a channel and a marsh, there are a nice variety of birds. I have seen egrets, herons, a peregrine falcon, a monk parakeet, warblers, a loon (and other waterfowl), and northern flickers, just to name a few. During the summer, there is a parking fee for people who are not residents of Nassau County.. There is also a fee to use the pools. In the summer, the pool area sells food.
