This museum has original bronzes and paintings of Remington in a setting that also tells the story of his life and times. It is a great find in a small town.

Ogdensburg doesn't have a whole lot to offer, but at least we have the Frederick Remington Museum. Remington was an icon of the Old West. A prominent artist of the late 1800's, his sculptures have endured the test of time and one of which "The Bronco Buster" sits in the White House to this day. The Remington Museum is part gallery, and part actual Remington home. A fascinating stop for history buffs, artists, old home aficionados and anyone who likes the Wild West.

Great place to compare prices on Remington Bronze works with what I am currently selling on culturalpatina.etsy.com. I use the Museum to make sure I am not over pricing my Remington recasts. I did not visit the facility personally but only used the store web site which I found very helpful to what I wanted at the time.

This is worthy of your time.Ogdensburg does not have a lot to offer as far as museums! This is it, and it is wonderful, well lit, and rooms filled with Remington's best works. The museum keeps the community alive. They do wonderful events for Ogdensburg. This museum has multiple floors, and an array of displays of other works besides paintings. The children's museum next door is great fun. With hands on fun, any child ( and adult) will like this trip back in time. Go enjoy the gift shop, a rare gift can be found. Nice jewelry! Go have fun, reasonably priced.

This Remington art museum is an outstanding collection of Fredrick Remington's work. Well presented and a very relaxed atmosphere that encourages casual browsing among the collection. Nice people on staff and very helpful in response to questions.

I was so excited about the next day's outing to view the works by the artist that fuelled my adolescent dreams and historic visions of the Old West. What blew me a way, was the comprehensive calibre in this amazing collection. The 70- odd oils, highlighted by 'The Charge of the Rough Riders', stirringly depict the famous battle in Cuba when Remington was a war correspondent. The superb bronzes, fourteen of them, needed time of circling, ogling, appreciating, but above all, loving these remarkable pieces. We quietly, sometimes very excitedly, ambled past the 140 watercolors, with as many, ink and pen sketches. it does not end there. Remington's personal belongings flesh out the interior of the museum, including his rifles,Indian weapons and a stuffed buffalo head. There is another collection by his close friend, Sally Farnham whose sculpture of a cowboy and his horse is compelling as is her base-relief of Theodore Roosevelt. We spent 4 hours thoroughly engrossed in the wild scenes of a romantic ,turbulent part of Americas past.

It had quite a display of his original sculptures, was staffed by people who were knowledgeable of his work, and is small enough that we were able to enjoy it in just about an hour.

We visited this wonderful museum while on a trip from Montreal to New York City. I have been an admirer of Remington's sculpture for much of my life and it was a treat to see so much of his work -- including paintings -- in one place. The collection is housed in a beautiful 1890s house, the Parish Mansion, where Remington's widow lived between 1915 and 1918.

This is a beautiful Museum. We Have been meaning to visit this Museum for several years and were pleasantly surprised. Down stairs they have a wonderful collection of painting, drawings, and bronzes by Remington and some examples of how He cast the Bronzes with a great shop and small gallery offering copies of his paintings and bronzes (Buy some and support the Museum). Upstairs they have examples of furniture etc of owners of the home (Remington was one of them). Also down stairs they have some beautiful oils from Remington's personal collection - Great Museum

A friend and I were road tripping around New York state and decided to drive through Ogdensburg. We were just exploring the town and drove down the street that the museum was on. What a treat! The museum has a great collection of Remington's paintings and bronze sculptures. Just the type of stimulating experiences a road trip should be about.

Our summer place isn't far so we went on a Tuesday afternoon. We were one of three people in the museum so we had plenty of time and space. Pros: The collection of original Remington paintings, watercolors and sculptures is very good. One can see Remington's progression from the 1880's to the early 1900's and his increasing artistry, which is amazing! There are many excellent examples of paintings, sculptures, watercolors in the collection. Two excellent Tiffany lamps and a Tiffany clock. A very good museum shop with excellent reproductions.Cons: The explanations and the exhibits are poor, very little context or explanation of Remington's life, or his progression as an artist. This is strange because all of this information is available in the books about Remington available in the books left on the benches and for sale in the museum shop. Perhaps the audio is better but we were not offered that option. The largest par if the museum is the house and collections which have very little to do with Remington. In fact, the house was occupied by Remington's widow and never by Remington. The collections in the house are from donors who collected Victorian objects. The lighting is very poor. I understand that the museum wants to protect the objects but the lighting definitely needs adjustment. .In spite of the cons, I recommend a visit as long as you are prepared for what you will see, or not see. I recommend reading about Remington prior to your visit so you do not have to depend on the labels on the exhibits.

Frederic Remington is a renowned artist that was from the Ogdensburg area. It's a rare thrill to see some of his great work in such a small and compact space. The museum is a great place to spend a few hours on an afternoon.

This was a fantastic museum, with an amazing number of Frederick Remington bronzes and drawings from his earlier years. I was totally surprised that there is such a great museum in this area of rural northern New York.

My college roommates and I visited the museum which I had read was a top-notch small museum. Those reviews were spot on! We wanted to have lunch first and the kind woman manning the desk gave us directions using a map available in the museum. She told us that they have a majority of his bronze casts on display, paintings and other objects the Remington's owned. Beyond the exquisite details in his bronzes, the house is amazing too! The fireplaces were fabulous as was the wood staircase upstairs (there is an elevator to reach the 2nd floor). We were also blown away by the exhibit of local artists and the assorted glassware. One display case of cut glass pieces which will make my husband drool when we go back to visit. Other examples of Victorian era glass pieces as well; my particular favorite was the Blue Bristol. My husband was so envious that he's making me take him back. No problem!
