We could eat our lunch watching dozens of birds feeding from hanging bird feeders, with a warm gas fireplace adding to the ambiance. The young man on duty was very helpful in answering our questions and provided hot water for our tea - very hospitable.

Had a nice hike on the trails with grand-kids 5 of them 5 and under. They also liked the "playroom".

For many children and their young parents, the Adirondacks are often completely foreign territory. Visiting this Center provides an excellent overview of adventures to be had if one only takes the time and efffort! A good start here!

We listened to a presentation on black bears (information) and kids enjoyed breaking into the bear containers. We explored the trails around the complex. Very well maintained trails around the lake. Easy to use with jogging strollers and there are longer hikes available. And yes, we had the place to ourselves. There is not a lot to see via the exhibits so visit when there is a program. But the trails were nice.

The center itself has some good information about the local wildlife and vegetation, but the best thing to do is get out and walk one of the trails. There are loops and you can do some that are quite short or some longer walks. We walked Little Sucker Brook trail and really enjoyed it, although it was tricky on the wood bridges for some with a bad knee as they were quite slick. But the brook was beautiful and the trail easy. We saw flowers and mushrooms and enjoyed seeing the river that we would canoe the next day.

We visited on the 4th & had the place to ourselves. The guides were friendly & the place offers some information on birds, mammals, & plants in the area. But after 15 minutes there wasn't much to do except leave. To be fair, the grounds feature a number of trails which might be worthwhile, but it started to rain & we didn't want to walk in the rain. It is free, but don't make a major trip to get there.
