This falls is lovely and worth the trek from Lake Rd. Except for a few spots, this is an easy hike and worth the effort.

I looked up this hike on lake placid.com before my weekend camping visit to the area and I am sure glad I did because the view is spectacular. The directions for the trailhead are a bit confusing. To access the trail, proceed to the parking lot across the street from the the lot viewable from Route 73 (note you can't see this lot from the main road). Park your car here. Walk about .7 miles uphill from the lot toward the Ausable Club. At the tennis court, make a left and proceed through the gate up a dirt road. At the 2 mile mark, look for a sign to the trail. The waterfall itself is very pretty. It is about 40 feet high with a gentle cascade. With the right shoes, it is possible to stand beneath it for a refreshing shower, but I imagine that it could be dangerous when water levels are high. The hike is moderate. The walk uphill on the dirt road is a steady incline. Once on the dirt trail, there is some more rugged terrain, but certainly navigable for most. I highly recommend this trail for a nice day out in the Adirondacks. Total time from car to falls is approximately 90 minutes at a steady pace.
