I went to empire kayak to kayak which I been to many times over the years. I was humiliated by a staff member or owner and told after I register to kayak for the day he said I can't kayak today I was escorted off the property by this member he told me he not like my attitude from the past and I don 't listens to his suggestions. What suggestions I wonder. Lot me tell you how bad I felt. I felt like criminal I was embarrass insulted. It was so rude to do this to me or any customer. I will never rent from empire kayak or tell people about this place again. Advised to people save the rental money buy your own kayak.

Took out a paddle board I had never done it before. The people were very nice they gave a couple of instructions ,which were very helpful, then we were off. It was a good workout. Trying to stand and balance for an hour. The only thing I didn't like was the water was not clean. I know they have no control over that.. I am just glad I didn't fall in!

You have to make it here. Worth every penny for the adventure. I am there a few times a year. They have a wide selection of paddle boards and kayaks as well as year round activities.

I stopped by yesterday since I don't get to paddle much living in the city. The staff was very nice and quickly got me on the water, fuss-free. I paddled around the marshes and bay for 2.5 hours which cost $37, which is completely reasonable for the NYC/li area. The area is marshy and there are a lot of buildings on the water, so its not the best area if u want to feel alone out in nature. But its a great place to learn to paddle on the ocean since the water was mostly calm, there is plenty of space to go out as far you want to, and its easy to get to. It was a very nice experience...just drive up and jump in the water and start paddling...I would definitely recommend

Gabby and MIke do an amazing job providing safe and fun activities on the water. Aside from standard rentals, their events are well planned and executed and a boatload of fun! I most recently participate in Yoga Paddles in which we kayak in a group to a park, get out and do about an hour of guided yoga, and paddle back for a delightful brunch (bagels, homemade gluten free muffins, fruit and more!). I have also enjoyed their marsh tours (with a naturalist), bikayak (26 mile bike ride followed by 3 in a kayak), nighttime paddle to watch fireworks, stand up paddle and classes in safety and rescue. The equipment is always in top notch condition, the staff are friendly and helpful. and fun is plentiful! Kudos to Mike and Gabby for running a great business!

Empire Kayaks was the perfect go-to place for my son and me on a very hot, July day. Being on the early-morning water was a perfect way to cool off and get some good exercise. Kayak and stand-up paddle board rental fees are quite reasonable. The staff is REALLY friendly, the kayaks are in very good shape and the folks there will teach you whatever you need to know about kayaking, paddle boarding and I think sailing.. They also offer sunset, yoga, lobster dinner, full moon, etc kayaking trips. Since this business was devastated by Superstorm Sandy last October, we hope you'll show them your support and help yourself get into good shape, while helping them rebuild! We did!
