One of the closest mountain hikes to Saratoga Springs. Get a GPS coordinate or good directions. My first attempt to get there was unsuccessful. The next two times I used gps and no problem. Have done this hike twice with kids. It's steep enough to make you sweat but short enough to not need to panic. Some large, rocky steps on the way up. I believe it's about 1.5 miles each way but feels longer. It begins to flatten near the peak. At the top is a nice vista, wd strawberries, a fire tower that can be climbed and sometimes a park ranger to give some information. Well marked trail. Enjoy. Consider a walking stick and plenty of water. On the way down be careful. This and sleeping beauty (near the Shelving Rock area of eastern Lake George) are my kids favorites. They slightly prefer Hadley. Though Sleeping beauty is easier and possibly prettier at the peak. But my kids like the tower and the wild berries at Hadley!

I have hiked Hadley many times over the years in the spring, summer and fall. It's confusing getting to the trailhead, so I would advise that you bring good driving directions with you. This hike is not particularly long, but it is steep. Use extra caution if you are hiking after it rains, in fact hiking poles would be useful on this mountain. There is a fire tower at the top of the mountain and there are some nice views. It's nice to put down your pack near the fire tower and take a lunch/snack break. It's always a lot cooler at the top of the mountain, I suggest bringing a jacket or extra layers.
