Wonderfully presented Shakespeare under a tent, overlooking the Hudson River, on the gorgeous Boscobel grounds. Our favorites to date have been Romeo & Juliet and Othello. Don't miss the band concerts and special events. Everything is worth seeing.

Going to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare show is such a wonderful experience. Arrive early to enjoy the exceptional Hudson River vistas as you stroll across the massive front lawn. The shows are so professional and fun under the big tent. It doesn't matter if it is clear, rainy or a day with fireworks on the Hudson ..... the actors improvise to make the shows fun and enjoyable.

We had a great time at the beautiful Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (at Boscobel, Garrison, NY) performances, There were three this summer, all beautifully acted, designed, directed and choreographed: Othello, Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Liar, a comedy written in the mid1600's and adapted for contemporary times in iambic pentameter by David Ives and so enjoyably done. The plays take place in a huge magnificent tent overlooking the hilliest section of the Hudson River, West Point and Constitution Island. When it gets dark, the effects of the stage area, as well as the scenic beauty of the surroundings keeps us coming back as we have for many years.. If one likes to picnic, the gates open into the beautiful Boscobel Parks entrance two hours in advance of the performance so one can enjoy the beautiful gardens, Mansion and views from any where.. Wouldn't ever miss a trip here and look forward to next year's plays. PS The Festival Actors also work with the schools, have some exciting programs and special events and perform locally in the fall and winter. It is a wonderful way to enjoy Shakespeare and related plays and the gorgeous views of the hills and the Hudson River and is a real favorite in these parts having built a reputation among local persons and tourists from all over the world.

My wife and daughter and I saw a production of "The Liar" at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival in Cold Spring, NY in August, 2014. The performance was in repertory with Othello and Two Gentlemen of Verona but we were only in town for one night and could only see one show, which was marvelous. The setting for the theatre is on the grounds of a beautiful old estate called Boscobel with amazing views of the Hudson River from a long sloping lawn. The theatre itself is under cover but the back of the stage is open to the lawn and the amazing view. The quality of the production we saw -- performed by Equity actors -- was excellent. They also have food you can order before the show to enjoy out on the lawn, or you can bring your own. All in all it was a terrific place to see a first class production. I only wish we lived closer so we could return many times. Highly recommended.
