We were exploring the Erie Canal region and discovered this location almost by accident. We arrived early. The staff on site was very friendly and we were invited to go on a self-guided tour of the grounds after viewing a short film about the site. Within a short time we were met by Joan DiChristina, who has been involved in the preservation and development of the landing for many years. While the exhibits are excellent, the background that she gave during our tour was especially valuable and appreciated. I would recommend this site for everyone. It is much more than a simple historical building. The grounds, buildings and exhibits have been developed and restored with great care by community volunteers who are obviously a very dedicated and talented group.
