On our way home from Lunch at the local Barker Brewing BBQ restaurant, Laurie and I took a side trip to the Thirty Mile Point Light. This is a historic lighthouse on a beautiful park. You can camp at the part. But the highlight is that you can rent, and live in, the lighthouse itself if you plan well enough in advance. If you are passing through along the Lake Ontario shoreline, either from Rochester to Niagara Falls, or in the opposite direction, take a few minutes to drive into this charming park.

I grew up 7 miles from here but loved to take my children camping here every summer when they were little. There are trails to hike, the lake to swim in, stars to watch at night and just a relaxing campground to enjoy. One year we rented the light house keepers cottage for a party and it was a very nice time. The parks workers helped us get set up and were very nice to work with. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They say it is haunted but we did not have any special guests that night.

This lighthouse is in great shape. You can tour the first floor, rent the second floor and climb the lighthouse. Open April 30 - Columbus Day 7 days a week.

Its a neat looking lighthouse, very pretty, well maintained, clean grounds. It is situated in a NY park/campground....The view is fabulous, the campground is awesome...the lighthouse has such very limited hours that it is impossible to make them...its from 2-4pm..thats it...2 hours, mid day...the price is cheap its $1 for adults $.50 for kids, and lil ones are FREE....there is an entrance fee to the park though, the whole weekend we camped there, they were never there to collect, which was sad because that is where they hide the gift shop. The short version is if you are camping there, or nearby..it is worth the visit...and, the money goes to a good cause (there is a reason it looks so nice)But, to try and make a special trip...good luck matching their hours!a side note, there are VERY nice/clean bathroom facilities right there, and a playground...also there is a slightly hidden cement fishing pier behind the lighthouse offering another angle of the place, and the lake...beware though, it gets slippery when wet, or nasty with bird poo when dry

I love lighthouses. And I make it a point to visit every one that is within easy access to wherever I am when traveling. BUT the state park charges $6 to get into the park and then another $1 to climb the lighthouse. It's not like I was there to use any of the park's amenities or facilities. I was not there to camp or hike their trails. I spent an hour to visit the lighthouse. I love lighthouses - wasn't there for a park.

This lighthouse has been well cared for and restored...great example of how things used to be. Helpful staff named Barb will tell you all you want, point you in the right direction, and give you a tour of the tower- Awesome! Excellent for kids of all ages!

Thirty Mile Point Light (because is is 30 miles away from Niagara Falls, I believe) is a well-kept light. It costs only $1.00 to see it but you must pay the cost of entering a state park. It is a bit out of the way for most travellers but if you "collect" lighthouses it can be worth the effort.

We spent two nights here. It is on the shore of Lake Ontario beautiful views. Cottage came with everything expect Bed Linens and towels. You could even order a Pizza. The Cottage is clean and comfortable. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and helpful. This is close to many locations to visit. Will be back in the Fall. It does have stairs so if you can't climb stairs you could not stay here.

We came here to see the lighthouse and to enjoy the view of the lake! It's $6 to register your car, and $1 for a tour of the lighthouse! I loved the interior, and even though I am afraid of height, I was brave and went all the way up. What a great view!It was very well worth it, especially since I just love spending time around water :)

We drove out of our way to come to the lighthouse at Golden Hill State Park. According to the state website, the lighthouse was open Monday and Tuesday from 2-4pm. We were there on a Tuesday at 3:30pm and were told, without any explanation, that the lighthouse was closed.

Spent an hour or so visiting this light, the house is in great condition and well maintained. Very nice stone bldg with Slate roof. Spent $6 for a car load to enter the park/campground, and $1 per person to tour the inside. Beautiful area. We didn't camp but it doesn't seem like a very good campground. basically parking in a field, or between the access roads for the lighthouse.

My brother got married here less than a week ago, so I had the opportunity to visit this lighthouse for the third time. The first time was when I was a kid and I also visited it a month or two ago just to check it out and see where the wedding would take place. Its a great place.....so much history...........tours are very inexpensive. I have never gone into the small interpretive center right next to the lighthouse, but I hope to someday.

stopped by this lighthouse on the way home from Olcott Beach Had to pay admission fee of $6 to get into Park and then more if you wanted an escorted tour of the Lighthouse. We choose to not take the tour and walked around ourselves. Seen better Lighthouses in my travels but this was ok. The water of Lake Ontario was so clear, a little pier is here.

A guide took us through the living quarters which was very quaint. We were also able to climb the winding staircase to the top and see the view of the lake and shoreline. I believe you could sign up to stay there for up to a week.

Charming lighthouse which looks especially beautiful at sunset. Take a jacket to ward off the chilly winds from Lake Ontario.
