canyon marine whitewater - day trips

Living in Colorado I like trying all this State has to offer. I have gone whitewater rafting in other Colorado locations. Though this was twice the distance for me to go, I would come here again over the others. The staff at Canyon Marine Whitewater was incredible. I feel they really knew the river and were conscientious to explain things to us. The van ride wasn't my favorite part, but the river experience itself more than made up for it.I am still smiling from the bit of heart-pounding thrill! And the scenery was absolutely breathtaking (but what isn't in Colorado)!!! My kids are dying to go whitewater rafting, too. I am planning on taking them, perhaps next summer. And I would definitely bring them here. Salida East will be the perfect experience for them as they range in ages from 10 - 21. Cost is comparable to other locales and companies. I have 6 kids, so I really need to weigh the factor in to my trip consideration. So, with that in mind, it is a bit pricey, but I think they would remember this trip for a long time!

Canyon Marine is a great local company with friendly, accommodating staff. Two young guides took my family and another group out for a half day trip down Brown's Canyon. The scenery was just spectacular! There are very few homes and no visible roads on this route, just the stunning beauty of a rocky canyon with tall mountains on either side. Our guide was fun, friendly and careful as he led us through the rapids. Most of the route was calm with some short but lively jaunts. For me, the most frightening part was not the rapids but the transportation to and from the river in their van. The van was old with a badly cracked windshield and only some seat belts in working order. More disturbing was the speed at which the young guide was driving. We approached slower traffic in front of us way too fast (unnecessary!) and took turns on the dirt road departing from the river too quickly too. Yes, I am a worrier (and I drove a lot faster in my 20's, too) but I think the young driver needs to be told to Slow Down. Everything else was truly great which is why I would still give their excursion 4/5.

First off, I’ve always traveled with and subscribed to the “big name” brands. I thought that was the way it was supposed to be done if you wanted a good time with no worries. Boy was a wrong! This small company was by far the most resourceful, accessible and friendly that I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve always wanted to try something a little on the “wild side” so I took my wife down the rapids at Canyon Marine Whitewater after some quick time familiarizing myself with the equipment and such. My kids took more of the guided tour. Both my wife and my kids didn’t stopped talking about it for a month! And they thought it wouldn’t be fun. My son didn’t pick up his iPhone not one time! What could be better? The Arkansas river, the breathtaking views, adventure, your family, and a GoPro camera! I will definitely do this again.

These fine folks over at Canyon Marine Whitewater have the Arkansas River figured out! Doesn't matter whether your an amateur at riding rapids or a seasoned veteran, these guys know how to help you enjoy that awe inspiring river on any level you wish. Whether it's a calm serene wade down the more calm stretches of the Arkansas river with breathtaking and captivating views, like my kids did. Or whether you want to kick it up a notch and ride the rapids like me and the wife, it makes little difference as they are well stocked with gear, and equipment so you can take your time familiarizing yourself with the equipment and how to use it before beginning your ride. Unless your on one of the guided or extended river tours which run on schedual. I rented one without guide and found all the equipment to be of exceptional quality. As are their food facilities and lodgings. Which is actually the ONLY thing I was put off by. They were actually TOO nice in my humble opinion. I like a more primitive setting when I'm camping, but I quickly got over it. But the place has GREAT duelism. Being in gods country and in the vastness of nature, yet with an air of comfort. I think overall this was an exceptionally awesome vacation. Can't go wrong by planning a trip. Theres something for everyone.

Found Canyon Marine by searching the internet for rafting companies in Salida. Didn't realize it was a small company when booking, but we were very pleased to find out that it was. We were the only boat with Canyon Marine taking the full day royal gorge trip. We didn't have to wait for other rafts to catch up if they got behind. Just went at our own pace. Best of all, we got to do some things that the big companies can't, like play in the water. Fletch was our guide and he was awesome!! Will definitely use Canyon Marine again in the future!

Totally enjoyed our experience rafting on the Arkansas River. Canyon Marine make the experience unforgetable. They handle everything: transportation, wet suits, raft guides, photographer, etc. All levels of rafting options. The personnel are so helpful and the scenery is beautiful. Can't wait to go again. El sitio luce estupendo, tiene atracciones como el river rafting que es para personas que les guste las aventuras de alto nivel de adrenalina. Hay espacios sensacionales para tomarse fotos tu solo, o cn tus amigos, muy natural y bonito. Hay unas aventuras también para familias, no tan llenas de acción, pero muy entretenidas y divertidas.

Ragazzi che esperienza , sono andato con amici ed inizialmente temevamo ci fossimo annoiati perchè non conoscendo nessuno e facendo una cosa mai fatta prima ci sentivamo demoralizzati , ma appena arrivati ci hanno accolto molto calorosamente , paesaggi stupendi , gente stupenda e attrezzatura spettacolare , abbiamo fatto sport in totale sicurezza, se ci ritornero? sicuramente!! adatto a tutti i tipi di comitive
