The Montrose Botanic Gardens had an amazing display of lights and attractions with singing, horse drawn hayrides, Santa in a tipi, storytellers, crafts, snacks, hot chocolate and various displays among the wandering paths within the gardens. It was amazing and very reasonable prices. A great evening in the Gardens. I can't wait for the snow to melt and visit the gardens when all is blooming.

A really nice garden put together by Montrose! You would not expect such a nice presentation in such a small town, awesome flora and descriptions.

Do you expect to visit one of the 7 Regional Botanic Gardens in Colorado in the small western slope town of Montrose? And it's 200 feet south of the Montrose Pavilion and Events Center! A handicapped accessible sidewalk allows you to travel from the Pavilion to the Gardens after a ballet or a folm festival. There are interpretive signs informing you about plants and there uses of water. Common and Latin names are scattered throughout the Garden so that you can jot down the plants you'd like to see in your Garden or plants that you just want tot learn about. What a great place to read a book or relax after a busy day. There are benches throughout the garden and the view of the San Juan mtns. is breathtaking! There are informative brochures available on the side of the large wooden sign at the end of the promenade. Visit their website and check out the 2015 event calendar. The Katharine Hodgkin miniature Iris is blooming in the center rock Garden-southern edge today! Check it out!

By my nature I don't usually do gardens, but I was in Montrose last summer and had some time to kill and walked through the gardens while I ate my lunch. I picked a good time as so many flowers were in bloom. With all those flowers and a view south to the San Juan Mountains I had the perfect place for lunch.

Located in the pleasant community of Montrose Colorado is lovely botanic garden that delights both young and old. The handicapped accessible pathways wind around the displays of native plants, trees and shrubs. The gardens are beautifully laid out and carefully tended. There is signage that helps distinguish plant species as well as teaching about xeriscape landscaping and low water gardening. My family visits the gardens as often as possible. We really enjoy the serenity and beauty of the gardens in the Spring when many plants are blooming, as well as in the winter when the snow covers the bare branches and the dry seeds give winter interest. Artists and photographers are often seen in the gardens which have the stunning backdrop of the San Juan Mountains. The gardens are a real gem and must see when you are in Montrose, Colorado!
