My wife and I were supposed to go skiing until something came up (we were bummed). We decided to look around to see what else you could do around Crested Butte and we found LCDF and dog-sledding. This has always been something on our bucket list so we decided to go for it. It was the best idea ever. We met up with Becky and Matt a little before our "launch" time so we got to see how they placed all the dogs (and got a chance to play with some of them too). And then we were off for a glorious 2-hour excursion through the Colorado country side. One of the dogs (Lilly) didn't feel like running so she just hopped up in my lap and laid in the sled with me for most of the ride. We had great conversation throughout the entire ride (she knows quite a bit about the town) and even let us hop up and "drive" the dogs as well. Phenomenal experience and we will definitely be going back.

We read about Lucky Cat Dog Farm on the Crested Butte web site (ski.cb.com). We contacted Becky by email and telephone to set up the arrangements. Accompanied by my wife and two daughters we met Becky at the pre-arranged meeting point, outside of Gunnison. The dogs were raring to go. Catherine and I in one sled and Vanessa and Sarah in another, off we set, with Becky driving the one team and Matt the other. A big plus was that Lily, puppy sled dog in training, rode inside the sled with Vanessa and Sarah. The trail we took was beautiful and Becky and Matt very informative and willing to answer any questions. It soon became apparent that the dogs were well cared for and part of the family, which was good to see. Roughly two and a quarter hours later (although it seemed much sooner, as time passed so quickly) we were back at our starting point. It was a great experience and we would recommend it to anyone.Becky & Matt we appreciate your hospitality and your care of the dogs and enjoyment of the wild.

Had an amazing dog sled ride today with Becky! The scenery was incredible and the experience itself was like no other! Definitely a memory that will last a lifetime! The dogs were incredible to watch, so content to do what they were meant to do and I had very good conversation with Becky! I will do this again, any chance I get! This should be on everyone's bucket list! Thanks again!!

We have traveled to many, many wonderful destinations from plush hotels to the roughest backwoods adventures and our day with Becky and the dogs is one that we will hold in our fondest of memories. Becky is truly interesting and fun. The dogs are happy and very well loved and cared for. The scenery is second to none. I HIGHLY recommend Lucky Cat Dog Farm.

I shared this "Call of the Wild" Winter outing with the owners, Becky and John in February 2006 and treasure the experience. I found both of these people to be well informed tour leaders. On the way from Crested Butte to the sled departure point, John pointed out interesting local sights and shared information about each. Prior to the dogsledding, we were told what to expect which was very helpful. At one point I became interested in the dogs' action; example, every few minutes, a dog would bend and suck a swallow of snow. John explained that it was called "dipping" and further explained that they were not thirsty, simply cooling their tongues and that is was their version of air conditioning. Because I was properly dressed, boots included, and extremely interested in the adventure, Becky allowed me to ride on the back of the sled with her for a short way. What fun that was and one for which I thank her and cherish. Learning mushing terms only added to the adventure. I did not expect to ride to the departure point in ultimate class and cleaniness..after all, they are in the dog sledding/tour business. I plan to return as soon as time allows. it cost us even more to wash our clothes to get the EXCESSIVE dog hair and fleas out of them. Ride was nothing more than 10 dogs pulling us at a slow pace down a groomed snowmobile road. Our trip took us about 5 miles down the road and then we turned around and went the same way home. We were told the tour would take us on trails yet when we asked about it during the ride we were told that trips vary by weather conditions. Weather conditions were perfect that day and a true team of dogs should have been able to pull our sled through the snow and on trails. Save your money and put it towards snowmobiling or skiing something you will have fond memories of.Oh yes and if you do decide to try it for yourself get directions and take your own vehicle, don't take the free ride unless you're ok with riding in a very nasty hair covered van. We should have known what we were in for when the driver arrived in this type of vehicle...truly disgusting!
