This is a jewel in Western Colorado's crown with an amazing display of local and regional talent. The exhibits change frequently, the first Friday of the month they have a grand opening reception that is always festive and fun. They also offer a wide variety of classes for children and adults. The children's director, Rachel, is a very gifted and gracious lady, as is all of the staff there. Lori at the front desk is warm and welcoming and sets the tone for the entire place. Love, love, love the Art Center!!!

Staff member or Volunteer was correct in saying that no exhibits are up the day of the Annual Art Auction. Only the contributed art for the Auction. It is always a madhouse.....the day of the Auction....getting things ready by five o'clock for the opening of the affair and that's why the Center is closed all day so everyone can get things ready. To the other who said that the art looked like High School Art. It probably was. The Art Department at the local College and the schools get to have exhibits every year which many Art Centers in other cities do not do. Hats off to the G.J. Art Center for fitting these exhibits into their annual programs.

We travelled from Denver and wanted to revisit this museum. Our remembrance was of great art in a very nice environment. Unfortunately, their annual auction was to be held that evening. We were told very perfunctorily that there were no exhibits available for viewing. We can't believe that they removed art from the walls... Very disappointed that a museum open to the public would do this. No exterior signs saying that the museum was closed. The staff member didn't appear to care that visitors were being turned away.

We went on a Tuesday - which was good since if we would have paid to get in, I would have been upset. Our group ranged from mid-50's to 9 and all were glad to leave. Most of it looked liked high school art projects.

We went to the center on a recent trip to Grand Junction. What a little treasure! It's a well kept secret in town, and well worth the visit. The center staff are very friendly and more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the art or artists. Well worth the trip, and a great deal for $3 entry.

On my second trip to Grand Junction one of the places I wanted to return to was the Western Colorado Center for the Arts. What a wonderful experience. The price to get in was so inexpensive for such great exhibits. One of the times I was there, I saw the most fabulous carved chess set and the pieces were at least 1 to 2 feet tall, Very Impressive. The next time I am in Grand Junction I will visit the Center for Arts again. It is well worth the time to see.

I was in last friday and i think it is so great that this art center works with special needs. It looked like they were having fun and doing great on their project. It would be neat to see some of their art work up. The art center I will definitely come back and visit again

Went here today- 10-4-2013 and this is what happened. The front room, pottery exhibit had an employee on a ladder moving around doing some work. The second exhibit room was quiet but had only about 20 items to view. The last room in the back was lined with paintings. The room had staff stacking chairs, cleaning and using power tools. There were cob webs in the corners, the walls behind the paintings had old nail holes. I complained to the attendant at the front and she only made excuses. She said the back room was also a class room. I told her this was the most unprofessional art center I had ever seen. No money refunded. Do not waste your time going here.

Love this place. You can always count on a good show. Don't miss it. The main gallery had an exhibit on trees that was fabulous and the other galleries had some interesting assemblage. I also like the gift shop.

The Art Center stays relevant and fresh changing their galleries monthly. Showcasing the many varied artists this area has to offer, the Center is always stimulating, interesting and fun. They offer various classes too. 1st Fridays are very fun, with wonderful varying art shows, live music and delicious snacks and loads of social and business networking.
