Me and some friends had a vacation in Fruita and Moab, for mountain biking experience. This is one of the trail we made, easy but interesting. Be prepared with lot of water.
Places
The Kokopelli and other trails n this area are used mostly by mountain bikers but I hiked every trail here and what I find every time how nice all bikers are. They say hello, smile but who wouldn't if one enjoys activities. Some sections of this trail are not easy for hikers and runners and more challenging for bikers but we all mange. There are some exposed, steep and narrow sections. I always enjoy views of canyons across the river and breathtaking Colorado River from above.

En route to Moab we stopped for quick ride. We just wanted to get out of the car and stretch our legs, so we did twice around Rustlers Loop. If you are a lazy adventurer like me, you can drive past the first parking area, and drive up and over the hill and all the way down to the left to a small parking area at the trail head. There is very limited parking, so you may have to turn back and ride to the trail head but we got lucky. Also, the only bathroom is at the first parking area, so if you need to take care of business first. The ride is pretty easy, but on the far side there is a stopping point overlooking the river winding down below that is just breathtaking. This type of western scenery is out of this world. There are also a number of other rides that go up to very difficult and technical, so if you are a killer biker, there is still good riding for you here. It is very different from the other Fruita riding on the other side of the interstate. Honestly I prefer Kokopelli more. Bring plenty of water and be prepared if it is hot because there is very little shade.

Want a fun beautiful outing? Here you go. This is a great little trail and pretty. Try to hit it early in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat.

Been mtn Biking since 1988(biking since 1960) and am a pretty good rider-only one serious accident (twisted ankle, caught in a sage brush) until last year, last year was 2nd degree shoulder separation in April(3 months no riding), and torn(separated) ligament(over the handlebars on Mary's loop) last September(2x surgical reattachment, hand is still swollen and it will take a year), so my biggest accomplishment on this trip was no injuries. But the loops are great, awesome views of canyon and Colorado River, choose your distance and skill challenge. great riding area!

This is one of the most scenic, desert trails in America.

Its a classic, but the actuall trail is not very technical, scenic, or full of single track. We added some side tours over our three day assualt to include the West Rim (not to be missed) LSB, USB, and Porcupine Ridge. Make sure you are wel supported, have experience with long days, bring the shammy butter, and on wear extra shorts

Kokopelli's Trail goes from Fruita to Moab. We rode Kokopelli's Trail in a few different spots on the Fruita end of the Trail. In places the trail was fairly technical with rock drops and pitches up and down and other places it was really mellow. Over the Edge Bike Shop in FRuita has good maps of all the trails in the Fruita area including Kokopelli.

Bikerpelli offers two Kokopelli trips on consecutive weekends in the Spring each year. They feed you and haul your gear to the campsite, so all you have to do is ride. They provide safety check-in points, but there is no guide and no sweep, so you must be able to ride 6-8 hours a day for three consecutive days or at least get yourself to the next check-in station. The combination of scenery, physical challenge, food, great comraderie, outstanding organization and logistical skills of the operator are unmatched. The ride requires equal parts endurance and skill to conquer grueling climbs and gnarly singletrack. Best mountain bike trip I've ever done; a must-do. 5 stars for this trip and Bikerpelli. It is challenging, but doable for those willing to train. A "bask in the glow of life" kind of accomplishment!
