edge loop ride

The area is better referred to as 18 Road than just the Edge Loop Ride. There are several trails for a variety of rider levels. The area is about 9 miles from downtown Fruita with the last 7 or so on gravel road.The area has 30+ campgrounds with fire rings, picnic table and vault toilets and many more undeveloped camping opportunities. In the summer of 2012 the BLM will start charging a fee for developed camp sites. No water is available. The vegetation is mostly pinion pine and there is limited shade during summer. Most people ride early or late in day.The rides are along the base of the BookCliffs (mountain) and are up and down with rocks along the trail. I have not done every trail but enjoyed the variety. These rides are not as scenic as the rides along the CO River in Loma or Rabbit Valley but there are nice vistas.I have attached a trail map from BLM as a photo.
