Great winter ice skating on the lake, paddle boats and kayaks in the summer. Nice walking trail around the lake to the falls. For serious fishing--the has a few Muskies!

I like a river not a lake. I do enjoy the ducks and geese, but don't go down there much. Lakes just don't attract me, I prefer my favorite camping place in California with a river and fabulous waterfall.

No matter what time of the year, enjoy Evergreen Lake's boating, fishing, and extraordinary ice skating activities. Take long walks around the lake. Watch the Elk seemingly walk-on-water as they tip toe across Upper Bear Creek, the creek that feeds the lake coming down from Mt Evans. Gorgeous log day lodge supports the activities, perfect for weddings and other events. There are outdoor summertime concert series every other Wednesday. Evergreen Golf Course and restaurant are right next door and incredible bars and restaurants like Willow Creek, the famous Little Bear and Cactus Jacks are just minutes away around the lake or on the other side of the dam. Evergreen is a perfect destination with a multitude of activities to enjoy all year long. Easy access from I-70 and 25 minutes from Downtown Denver.

I venture to the lake often for a walk from my house. Ice skating is fun but it is a bit expensive. I would never walk across the lake on the ice because people have died falling through the ice. In the summer it is fun to go paddle boarding on the lake. I wished that the ethnic people from down the hill would stop littering around the lake with fish hooks and trash. It is our town so keep it clean. The Lake House is a beautiful place for a wedding.

Ice skating, ice fishing, walking around the lake set in the mountains is winter magic; spring and summer is a movie set and there is fishing, boating, yoga, tai chi all done by the lake; in the evenings the red wing black birds sing; in the fall the majestic aspen's gold colors are spectacular. It's a quick get away from Denver about 30 minutes and a perfect place to take a client or grandmother.

This lake is nestled in between mountains and offers a view from any angle - you can ice skate in the winter, kayak or paddle boat all summer, fish, hike, take the kids for a picnic, dogs are allowed, you name it Evergreen offers it.

Our group of 7 went up to ice skate on a beautiful, albeit cold 25 degree Saturday afternoon. We arrived around 2 pm along with every other person in the world. The parking lot at the lake only holds perhaps a 100 vehicles and if you pull in to search for a space, you might get stuck in line for 20' before you can get out. Tip is to drop off your passengers on the road outside the lot and go park in the shuttle lot about 2 miles away. The attendant at the entrance to the lake parking gives you a map to the shuttle lot. I went to park, waited about 20' for the shuttle and by the time I got back to the lake, perhaps 50' had passed. Our group had just gotten to the front of the line to rent skates after standing in another line to buy skating passes. The good thing is that they were waiving the $7 to rent skates because of the long lines. It cost $7 for an adult to skate. We probably were there on the busiest day of their season - the Saturday after Christmas on a beautiful bright blue sunny day. Once we started skating, it was long forgotten. Huge outdoor skating area with around 10 separate small hockey rinks. Watch out for the cracks in the ice that will easily catch a skate. They did have a small Zamboni running while we were there. We had a great time even though there were probably over 150 people skating. There were two to three Skate Patrol people available that quickly responded to people that had a hard fall. You can warm up inside though I did not see any sort of refreshments available. After skating, we drove the one mile to old towne Evergreen to get a beer and eat. See my separate review of a great little place, the One World Cafe. Only complaint was having the shuttle bus get stuck in the parking lot line with the cars. They should find a separated road/lane for the shuttle bus.

We have been ice skating at Evergreen Lake before and loved it. Our daughter wanted to try it at night for her 16th birthday. We called the hotline to make sure the weather allowed them to be open. The hotline said they were open for skating all day (10am to 8pm). We called again at 5:00 before leaving Denver (hotline said they were still open for skating) only to be told when we arrived at 6:45 that they would be closing in 10 minutes. Needless to say, the hotline is not the most reliable. We expressed our disappointment and the manager gave us free passes for our trouble, but that hardly made up for the rough drive in snowy weather & ruined a 16th birthday excursion. We probably won't attempt night skating again unless they figure out a better way to keep their hotline updated. Guess we were supposed to continuously call on our way up.

Great place for a walk when you don't have time for a hike! The lake and it's surroundings are beautiful. 14 of our family members just took a walk around the Lake on Thanksgiving weekend, all had a great time ages 3 to 71! We had a great surprise when Santa came by to ask what the children wanted from Santa! When visiting in the summer, you can paddle boat, canoe or paddle board! In the Winter grab your ice skates! In the Fall watch out for the Elk!

Located not far from Denver, weenjoyed the walk around the lake. A leisurely stroll takes about 45 minutes. There is a groomed path and places to sit and talk.

Great time, came to visit from Texas, spent half a day here, took a ride on a paddle boat. Very relaxing

This lake is beautiful. The elk watching is amazing! Warm days are perfect for SUPing, kayaking, paddle boating or just taking a walk. A perfect summer eve is if you go eat across the street at Willow Creek then take a walk at the lake. Winter skating is great!

After enjoying brunch at the nearby Wildflower Cafe, we drove over to Evergreen Lake. Even in early November, the weather was perfect - mid 50's, blue skies. We walked around the entirety of the lake, which seems to be about 1.5 miles. Very enjoyable, very easy, very relaxing.Pet friendly. Kid friendly. Easy walking. Apparently you can rent paddle boats, canoes and kayaks in season.

Downtown Evergreen and surrounding area is beautiful, clean and friendly. Gorgeous scenery at 7,000 ft in town and cute little restaurants with good food is a big draw. The in town Highland Haven Inn is worth every penny not that it's super expensive. Driving distance to Golden, about 90 minutes from the Denver airport. It's beautiful. The stream in town is so pretty and the walk around Lake Evergreen is very nice. The dry weather winter or summer is a big plus for me. Winter is snowy, if you're renting a car make sure to get AWD. One of the prettiest little towns in Colorado I've been to.
