Lots of food places and gift shops and easy parking. I would recommend anyone to visit whilst in Memphis.

If your in Memphis this is a must see.. It is a lively and fun place to go to. some really good bands and singers in the bars, all lively and full of energy and you meet people from all over the world.

Went to Beale street during the day and was dead, a few dining options were open but most were closed. Went back at sunset and a completely different story a lot more entertainment options and even though it was raining on and off it was very good. I was a little disappointed with the overall feel and size of the street. Having heard about the legendary Beale st I expected it to be bigger than it is. Was a bit disheartened to see it was only about 150-200 metres long. Had lunch at King Palace and was very nice, had dinner at Pig on Beale and the meals were great.

I really enjoyed Beale Street - you can't make a trip to Memphis without seeing it. There's live music everywhere you go, and it's a really fun time. If you follow it all the way down to the water, you'll get a great view of the Mississippi and the bridge. There is quite a lot of panhandling going on, so be prepared for that.

It's worth a look if you are in Memphis, but you have to be extremely careful. The panhandling in Memphis seems to be very high compared to other like cities size-wise. I went by myself during daylight/ dusk hours, which was ok, but I would recommend using the public transportation or a taxi to get to and from the touristy area of Beale Street. The signs all lit up were very cool to see. Also, visiting the Schwab's Merchantile was very neat.

Disclosure - We visited Beale Street on an unusual day in March with several inches of snow and caked and compressed ice on the ground at 9:00 in the morning and no one on the street except the various breakfast places trying to hustle for business on a really slow day.The street was picturesque and filled with blues and musical establishments that I could imagine would rock late into the night. Unfortunately our schedule would not permit a night visit and I had to reluctantly settle for a walk through the length of the street.I do not know if the lunch crowds on a warm day fill up the street but guess they would - there are plenty of great looking restaurants and drinking establishments on the street. Someday I hope to be able to return to sample an evening of music, beer and experience the magic of the heart of blues country. Then, and only then would I raise my review rating!

A great place to enjoy music and have some beer. There a few really cool bars with a lot of character to sit in and drink. A must see area if you are in Memphis.

Beale Street was disappointing and I believe the Frenchman Street is probably what Beale Street once was. Beale Street felt 'sleezie' for lack of a better world and rather than great music and bars seems to be all about the booze and objectifying women.

The street is full of music, smells and food. There's a choice of bars to wander in. Shops are open till late. It was ok, not as good as Nashville bars and atmosphere. But glad we visited.
