While my husband was in class I had some time alone. My Visit to the Pink Palace wa very enjoyable. Nice snackbar with reasonable prices and generous potions made fresh to order. I max movies and snacks are allowed. I say this because I'm a diabetic and they were nce and helpful in every way. Lots of great exibits.

Unfortunately the planetarium was closed during our visit, but the museum and palace were a refreshingly interesting treat! My 10 year old loved the museum and reading all of the informational plaques about the exhibits. HUGE points for the way the individual pieces are explained. The Palace was small, but had a few interesting finds in it as well.

We managed to spend several hours here! When we went (on a Tuesday) the admission was free, so an even better reason to stop in. Great use of the facilities ... a lot to see.

Their Christmas trees were still on display at the end of December-- bonus! We went to see their outstanding IMAX movie-- "Jerusalem". A must see and in 3-D!

The museum is very interesting. We have been there several times when family members visit the area. It has displays varying from dinosaurs to birds and many others. I'm looking forward to returning when the opportunity presents itself.

I'm glad I found out that Tuesday afternoon are free but when we went we decided to pay for Festival of Trees-that was not worth the investment ($21 for 4 of us). You don't actual get to see a lot of the Mansion only the front entrance area. The actual museum part was neat and some interesting exhibits. Definitely a cheap way to spend an afternoon with a family but not the highlight of our vacation.

We went to the pink palace thinking we would go through a museum and then tour the mansion only to discover the few rooms of the mansion we saw were not decorated other than a display of womens dresses. As for the $$ paid for the planetarium well the real one is closed for renovations so instead you are directed to the mansion theatre where they show a mini movie from a laptop which is projected on a screen. Do Not waste your money.

Alright, disregard some of the reviews. I feel like a lot of the people were complaining just to complain. Here is my take on the museum:First of all, when you pull up to the mansion, it definitely takes you aback. It's a huge mansion, and you can't wait to explore it... Unfortunately, that's one of the letdowns. When you walk into the entrance, you buy your ticket. My mother and I decided to get the enchanted forest, the planetarium, and the mansion (i think? if there was one?). We were told the planetarium would be at noon. Fine. We decided to explore the museum a bit, which was somewhat interesting. They had some cool fossils which were educational, and a few things that were interesting if you're interested in dinosaurs. What this had to do with the Piggly Wiggly, or the mansion, I don't know, but it was interesting none the less. When we finally got to the planetarium that was what was actually somewhat shocking. The planetarium was closed. We sat outside the closed planetarium for a good 5 minutes, until we finally asked for directions. When we finally got to where we were supposed to be, we were pulled into a room, and some old guy showed us a movie on a projector through his laptop on windows media player. It was not a planetarium at all, and he did not use any of the traditional equipment. After leaving the planetarium early (we spotted 3 other couples who left early as well) we decided to explore a little bit more. Unfortunately they ruined the mansion. The whole entire time we were wondering when we were going to be able to explore the mansion, when eventually we realized we were already in the mansion. There is nothing to see there. They pulled everything out of the mansion and you don't even know what room you're in until you read the plaque on the wall which tells you which room you're in... It's a sad waste of a historical mansion. It feels as if they took a bunch of random historical artifacts, threw it in a museum, and called it the Pink Palace. It seemed like a random palace to me.

Then enchanted forest is far from enchanted. We had to pay $15 each to get into this rip off of an event. You pay. Then you go up the escalator and walk into like a hallway that they decorated the inside with. It had playing squirrels scenes and some small Christmas scenes. The displays were not all lit up. The Christmas trees in the displays were dark..I complaied to the lady who sat at the entrance of the display who obviously wasn't to intelligent. She told us that the trees don't light up. That's not true because I went up to the trees and saw the string of Christmas tree lights on them.. I mean why else would the trees have lights on them if they weren't meant to be lit? Liar. Then there was no Christmas music and the sound of the motor from the fishing dispay was so loud it was irritating to me. Then the hall leads into a room where Santa is suppose to be. santa was no where to be found. Apparently he was on lunch. My daughter was not impressed and neither were my husband and I. We then thought we'd salvage it by eating lunch In the cafe. BIG MISTAKE! the cafe to me smells like a really old place. Outdated and the food was just not really good. My husband refused to eat from the cafe. I should have listened to him and not eaten there. Disgusting. I wanted a refund big time! I stil do. Not worth it at all. The forest of trees that's lined up on the second floor is interesting but still not worth $30. I could go to a department store and get pretty much the same experience..but for free! Don't go. If you have money just to blow and don't care then maybe you should go. Don't let the website mislead you into thinking it's going to be so fun and magical..it's not. I will never go to the enchanted Forrest again.

Take a day and discover the Pink Palace museum. It stretches through time from the dinosaurs to the beginning of Tennessee through Civil War, Yellow Fever, Civil Rights, Music, Medicine, Cotton Carnival, Elvis, .....Be sure to see the Earthquake section, the hand carved wooden Circus, the section on the Vietnam Memorial (it was made here in Memphis), the first self serve grocery store (Piggly Wiggly) and the famous shrunken head! Hours of history and entertainment!

I typically don't like places without a unifying theme, so a place that jumps from fossils to yellow fever then to civil rights seemed strange to me, but each exhibit is very strong in its own right. I still have no idea how this place came to be or how the exhibits were chosen, but it's fun and informative so I stopped questioning it. If you have the Memphis coupon book, there's a voucher for buy one get one free, which made this attraction a steal. It's a good place to spend a couple hours, maybe more if you have smaller children. There's also a reasonably priced cafe with an excellent soups, sandwiches, and desserts selection.

Very interesting museum! Educational visit for both kids and adults. They have the Festival of Lights! Very beautiful decorated trees! The best display at the museum was the piggly wiggly exhibit. Very neat piece of history. Great museum for all ages.

Beautiful mansion converted into a natural history museum with items as diverse as skeletons of dinosaurs and humming birds. Gems and minerals. Even a shrunken head! Also a recreated Piggly Wiggly store.

This museum has not really changed in my entire life. They have new exhibits occasionally and new movies ion IMAX. I have visited the Pink Palace several times as a child and now as an adult with my own child. Not really a place for small children, more suitable for school age kids and adults.

I saw the movie Jerusalem 3D and the place was amazing. The staff is friendly. It was a nice place. I enjoyed it so much
