If you're taking a trip to East TN, or just want to do something a little different this weekend- Apple Valley Stables is the place to be. The guides are very knowledgeable and kind, and they teach you how to ride before you head out. I felt very safe in knowing that such a skilled equestrian would be with me the whole time. The horses are gentle and are treated better than any animals that I have ever come across, and it is apparent that they love humans just as much as we love them. The stables boast an impressive 300+ acre area that winds through green fields, clear creeks, and beautiful mountains. When you're back there, it feels like our industrial world no long exists- you are suddenly one hundred years in the past. I was extremely happy to find out that at the end of the day, the guides un-tack and un-halter the horses to let them free into a herd instead of cooping them up in stalls all of the time. You actually ride where they live (remember, 300+ acres). Overall, it was more than impressive- it was inspiring. If all of the people on earth took example of this establishment, the world would be a much better place. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, as did the rest of my family. We will be back in the spring.

The ride was peaceful!! I am scared of horses and the horse I had walked the trail like a pro. My son who is autistic was quiet and in awe of the entire process. I can not say enough about our polite wonderful guides !! Best part of our trip
