My wife and I have been visiting the Great Smoky Mountain area for the past 16 years. We have been married for 31 years and always look forward to our "time away, just to be together", without kids or grand kids; whom we that we truly love. But nothing is like being in the Smoky Mountains in the winter. I planned our special weekend back in early December,2014. If I wait then we settle for less. We just experienced the best view of the Smoky Mountain that I have been able to locate in my previous 15 attempts. Cabin Fever Vacations has a great cabin named "Running Bear". which is without a doubt a great log cabin that is perfect for ONLY 2 people with the best cabin view and privacy anyone would want for a relaxing vacation. We got a plus this year, we were here during the heavy snow and ice storm in February 2015. The folks at Cabin Fever Vacations were very understanding of the weather situation and checked on us to be sure we were ok.

If you like outdoors and enjoy hiking, then smoky mountain is one of the places to go. Lots of different trails and wonderful falls to see.

It's always pretty in the Smokies, but the autumn colors are beyond description!! I was able to get a few good pictures before my battery died in my camera, ugh!! It was quite crowded on the roads and in the parking areas with all kinds of photographers, but what do you expect with all the beauty!!

Clingman's Dome and the trails were amazing. Cold, but I'm from Florida, so I'm not an accurate judge. Can't wait to go back when it's warm.

Have visited the Smoky Mountains for ten years in a year. Sometimes twice a year. Always stayed at Cabin Fever Vacations (used to be called Geenbrier Valley). If you select a unit stay in the Village Of Cobbly Nob. This is a gated community with great privicy, pools and areas to walk the kids or your dog. Most units have an outstanding view of the Smokys just right across the street.

Soooooo beautiful! God really knew what he was doing when he created this. The sights were nothing less than spectacular. The prospect of seeing deer, bear, and turkey abound. My husband and I love driving through the park to enjoy the serenity of nature. The kids, not so much-they were bored and went to sleep. I could drive through this everyday and never tire of it. One of my favorite things to do while in the mountains.

We waited an extra two days to head out for our trip to the Smokys knowing that snow was on the way. I was worried the snow would take down a lot of trees and the leaves would all be gone but the park was in great shape. Some of the roads were closed due to trees that needed to be cleared from the roadway but the crews had them all open within 2 days of the storms. We walked to the top of Clingman's Dome a half mile in the snow and had a blast. We saw black bear, deer, and elk, along with amazing vistas.

If you are coming to the Smokies, do not miss going through the park. The views are beautiful! There are campsites, picnic areas, hiking trails, trout streams, but the best part is the natural beauty. Maybe you will see a bear.

Autumn in the Smokies is spellbinding! Whether it's visiting the American Farm Museum, photographing the elk feeding, climbing Clingman's Dome, horseback riding, camping, or pulling off at one of the many areas such as Newfound Gap to gaze at the splendid foliage colors, you're bound to make a vow to return each year as we do. You'll always see something new and never be disappointed. The 35 mile drive from Cherokee to Gatlinburg is a must for every visitor.

Beautiful. Traffic is terrible tree color. Go early and come back early to avoid traffic. We spent 4.5 hours traveling between Cherokee NC and gatlinburg

Real easy to slam the feds BUT the trails in the park were very well maintained. A real shame you have to drive through Gatlinburg to access the park ( from the East ). Ramsey Cascades, Charlie's Bunion, Jump off, Chimney Tops, Alum Cave, Porter's Creek, klingman's, Andrew's Bald and Laurel Falls to name a few..

We visited The Smoky Mountain National Park for our honeymoon. It was absolutely breath-taking! The traffic in the National Park can be a bit of an annoyance, but once you get off the beaten path and do some hiking, you forget about all of that! There are so many hiking trails and driving roads, you'll need more than one day to visit the park. We stayed at a beautiful, quaint, little cabin that we rented from Cabin Fever Vacations. It was called Little Bear. It had an amazing mountain view, and was decorated beautifully. There was a hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains, a copper topped kitchen, and the bedroom was filled with skylights and windows all overlooking the mountains. I couldn't have asked for a better cabin. I loved it! It was the perfect way for my new husband and I to spend our honeymoon!

Loved the drive through the mountains, seeing wild animals viz. Elk. I would have liked to see a bear, but not this time. Loved fishing, Fly and Spinning, at its best. An exhilarating feeling catching wild Rainbow Trout!I am not one for the nearby touristy things, but one would never miss out on visiting the nearby town of Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.
