When we visited this vineyard, we became instant friends with one of the owners! She opened up for us, and allowed us to try their wines. We left with 6 bottles, and when traveling back that way, picked up a case! Absolutely tasteful wine for every occasion. The scenery as well is beautiful! Our visit was a little longer than the date below, but this vineyard does send us wine. That's how much we love it!

I live near this winery and they have the best wine around. Try the whistle stop red! Great tour and hospitality'

Absolutely the best touring winery I have visited. The staff are what that state is known for "Southern Hospitality" . Wines are delicious, prices are resonable and the winery is beautiful. Do not pass up the opportunity to visit.

This winery was a stop on our self guided wine tour through Tennessee. It is a beautiful Italianate venue for weddings or events as it has an attached two story ballroom and meeting rooms of smaller size available for rental. The tasting room is large and includes a gift shop, viewing window to winemaking facilities located below first floor and horseshoe shaped tasting bar. We were able to tour the winery with a very nice guide who not only gives tastings and tours, but is also involved in the production of the wine. So she was able to guide us through the facility and explain about bottling, distribution and history. We also visited the wine lab and were given a little science lesson on winemaking, fermentation, ph levels and such. Employees were smart, funny and informative; really taking time to show us around and let us sample the wine. They all seemed proud of their work and product. Tastings were free and we opted for the Whistle Stop Red as our souvenir. This winery is a destination stop on The Tennessee Central Railway from Nashville, we learned. The only negative about this winery is that when we were ready to drink our souvenir wine, we noticed it was not filled to even the neck of the bottle. This was probably an oversight in the bottling process but a bummer for us.

The building is very nice inside and out. Great place to have a meeting or a wedding. They have lots of wine bottles to look at. You can also see the vats on the lower levels. There are lots of wine gifts to buy.The staff is friendly. The wine is good.Worth the visit.

As a venue, this is hard to beat locally. It's very elegant and a great spot for weddings or formal reunions. There is a nice ballroom and other function rooms. You can tour the vineyard and winery. There is no charge, but it's just a basic tour. You may also taste all their wines for free. There is a very low pressure sales pitch to purchase their wines, but there is no obligation to do so.The wines are a little expensive.

Visited the winery this time as part of the Del Monaco Winery train excursion on the Tennessee Central Railway from Nashville. A beautiful 3 1/2 train ride brings you literally to the Del Monaco parking lot. You can imagine a train arriving with over 500 passengers can make life a little hectic. So if you want to avoid the crowds, you might want to check www.tcry.org to make sure a train is arriving on the day you go, which is always on a Saturday. Better yet ride the train and get to taste all of the wines they make on the train, get a free wine glass and get to meet David Monaco, the owner. Del Monaco makes a variety of reds and whites from dry to sweet, plus a blackberry wine and a peach wine, much like port wines. I prefer rieslings and Del Monaco makes the only non-german made riesling I have ever liked. This time we bought their new rose' that is called Southern Rose, a nice slight sweet blush wine. The grounds are beautiful and they give a very nice tour. The day we arrived, they had a live country band, a bar-b-que lunch for purchase and several local crafts booths with various local made items for sale. The building is very large and has facilities for weddings and large gatherings. On the grounds they had games and a hay ride. It was very festive and fun. The wine tasting area lets you taste the various wines. If you purchase wine, you can't open it in the wine tasting room, but you can in the other rooms and on the grounds. A very nice place to visit if you enjoy wine.

I have been to wineries all over the world and this facility is very nice BUT not great. I'm not a big fan of locally grown grapes except for a few of the ones that go into their white blend. The local reds are a bit to much on the palate. The wines that are made from imported grapes aren't bad and the prices are reasonable. If you are in the greater Cookeville area its definitely worth a stop to see the facility and sample some wines.

This is a stop on the Upper Cumberland Wine Tour and is conveniently located off Interstate 40 in Baxter, Tennessee. This appears to be a newer building that is well maintained. Sampled several varieties, but my tastebuds were not impressed. Employees seemed knowledgeable. We arrived around 4:30 pm on Saturday (this is the same day a train excursion brought passengers from Nashville), so everyone appeared a bit overwhelmed from the day's activities.

Fantastic building and location. The staff was great. They have recently changed wine makers, but give them a little time and they could have some great wine..

I did not know that TN law did not allow you to taste the wines. They don't let you sit down. After enjoying an afternoon at a KY winery with wine tasting and lunch a month earlier, I was surprised I could not do the same here in TN. Not the winery's fault but will not go back.

This is one of many local Tennessee wineries. They have an excellent selection of reds and whites. So far this is the only US riesling that I feel is comparable to German rieslings.

After seeing Del Monaco's in the Tennessee Wine Country pamphlet and seeing that it was close to the interstate, we decided to visit. It was close to the end of our drive for the day. What a pleasant surprise. I was prepared for anything from a remodeled shed up. Del Monaco's had a lovely building with a large hall for meetings/parties and upstairs other gathering rooms and suites. Everything was clean and tidy. Their tasting room was laid out well with a "u' shaped bar and windows overlooking the fermenting rooms. The gift shop had a good variety of items. To the Wines - our server was very knowledgeable about the wines and the area and activities that might be of interest. We tasted several wines and found most of them fit our tastes. We bought several bottles including chardonnay, Whistle Stop Red blended wine, Gewustraminer and Espiritu de Oro. This last wine was blended by students of the Tenn. Tech University vintner program which Del Monaco's supports. If I lived closer, I would love to do the train trip from Nashville that stops at the winery for food and tastings. Del Monaco's was such a nice experience - I'll go back again if I am going along I-40. I look forward to sharing these wines with my friends.

They have a great festival every year at harvest time, Need to check with them to find out when it is. We have been twice, 2011 was in October, 2012 was in August. Great time!

Who'd a thunk, a tasting room out in the woods of Baxter? But there it is: Classic Italian architecture surrounded by vinyard. Great spot for banquets and celebrations.
