We had a 2 1/2 hour ride through Willis Creek. The ride was through a slot canyon and was fantastic. Only 4 riders plus the guide a great experience, will likely do it again.

Spot on experience from booking in to being dropped back at the Bryce Canyon Inn. Hunter was our guide and did a fantastic job. Willis slot canyon was where we rode through. Saw 2 hikers all morning. Bryce is great to ride through, but you can always walk thorugh it. Having done both, we prefer Willis! (as long as you can hike through Bryce) Highly recommended!

The first half of the ride to the slot canyon was great. The view was great, the animals were the best I have seen on a trail ride, and our young guide was very good. The second half was through a desert trail and down a dirt road. We would have preferred to turn around and return the way we came in. We would still recommend it.

Beautiful country the horses were great and the guide fabulous. Will do it again. Allown enough time to do a full day ride you'll have a great time.

We took the half day trail ride with Hunter as our guide. The horses and mules were calm and sure footed and the scenery varied including riding alongside a river, through multiple slot canyons and high above the canyons with 360 degree views. Hunter stopped whenever we asked to take photographs. Don't miss this chance to see canyon country on horseback.

We took a full day's ride (5 - 6 hours) with McClain, who was just wonderful. He had lived there all his life and was the 8th generation to do so. It was clear he loves the land and his lifestyle and he was happy to share it with us. My daughter and I were the only two to go on this particular ride and it was heaven. Stunning scenery and the best thing of all... quiet! No other noisy tourists to spoil it for us. Just wildlife, great weather, great views and a very kind and attentive guide who told us about the area and answered any questions we had. It is not for the faint-hearted as some of the trails are incredibly steep and we were unsure at times whether or not our horses could even manage it. They could and did! We put our trust in them and it was fantastic. McClain had organized packed lunches for us which we ate sitting on the ground near our horses. There are no 'facilities', it's back to nature! The only downside... VERY sore knees! But it was so worth it. We would go again tomorrow if we could. We loved it.

Our main trip was to Bryce Canyon, we lodged in Tropic. Our Bed & Breakfast recommended Mecham Outfitters for a canyon slot horseback ride - and what a great recommendation it was. Our guide was the owner's son. He was such a pleasant, responsible young man who provided us with about a 3 hour tour. We couldn't do the slot tour because on the drive there, the wash was in a flash flood condition and attempting to cross it would have been dangerous. The horses were well cared for and very gentle - we're novice riders. Everything about our horseback tour exceeded expectations.

This was by far the best part of an 8 day trip into Utah. My 7 and 9 year old both loved it. We took a half day morning trail ride through a beautiful canyon that became slotted at some point and up into a beautiful panoramic view. It was peaceful and beautiful and we will definitely use Mecham Outfitters again when in the area. McLain really knows his horses, the trail and the area. The price is very reasonable. This is the same company that books trail rides out of the Bryce Canyon Inn. Tropic is a very short drive from Bryce Canyon and a much less touristy alternative. There is also a walking trail from Tropic into Bryce Canyon.

My family of four went on a morning trail ride with Mecham Outfitters in July 2013. Our guide, McLain Mecham, was great and took us on a ride we will remember forever. Our ride took place in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument where we rode through a gorgeous slot canyon and up on the plateau, which, from horseback, allowed us to view some of the prettiest vistas we have ever scene. This ride was the perfect compliment to our tour of Bryce Canyon NP. Bryce is amazing with all of the hoodoos while the Grand Staircase Escalante NM (GSENM) offers completely different and equally amazing views. McLain grew up in this area and has been riding these trails since he was 8! He took us places on our ride that only a local with a long family history in the area could know about. McLain was great with my daughters and with us and made sure that he paired horses to the riders abilities. He expertly fit us to our saddles so that we did not feel sore the next day -- as we have with other trail rides done in other places. Our horses were in great shape, were obviously well kept and very responsive and easy to ride. The fact that it was just our family of four with McLain made this even more special; it was our own private horse ride. I can't recommend Mecham Outfitters enough! This is a must do when visiting Bryce Canyon NP. Yes the rides at Bryce look fun, but they are big groups and not private and you don't see anything that you can't see on foot when in the park. Mecham Outfitter's ride in the GSENM offers another perspective on this beautiful part of the country and a chance to get to know a local. You may not easily see the GSENM on your own and would most likely never find this amazing slot canyon if not for this ride. This is a top notch outfit, a great value and an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Just do it!

We had a 1/2 day trip with a young guide who took us to a slot canyon which is not very well known. The scenery was beautiful, we got good horses and the guide took good care of us. I can recommend it as a great experience.

My group booked an evening trail ride on impulse after seeing McLain's brochure at the Bryce Canyon Inn pizza place. I wasn't super excited about the idea, since I've been on some rather boring and expensive trail rides with too many people, sad looking horses, etc. This trail ride blew my expectations away! The scenery in Willis Creek slot canyon is amazing! McLain is an excellent guide and host. His family has lived in the area since the late 1800s, and he does a great job sharing his love for and knowledge of the area. It was well worth the money, and then some!

My family and I took a horse ride through the beautiful slot canyons with McClain & Hayes Mecham as our guides, we loved it, they were so wonderful and thoughtful with my 2 little neices & nephews making sure they had the right horse and that they were safe, we enjoyed our time so much with them listening to stories as they pointed out the beautiful scenery, I recommend if you are ever in the Tropic area, make sure you take a horse ride with them, it will be the highlight of your trip!!!

Mr. Meachum is thoroughly knowledgeable about the area and shares information. The horses and mules are well trained. Safety is attended to. The scenery is magnificent. Overall, it was a thoroughly wonderful experience.
