We came here to ride atv with an off road company and the whole park is amazingly beautiful !There are trails for the atv enthusiast ( beginners like us) then there's the beach with fine red sand and the shop with the rentals for everything you need under the sun plus ice cream and snacks! If you didn't want deal with any outside stuff - take shelter with the rental's patio with lounge chairs. Perfect Utah spring day break !

The state park is beautiful. We had a problem with The Beach at Sand Hollow. We rented two wave runners last August, and we were entitled to a discount in which we are still trying to receive. We were told the system could not give the refund at that facility, to contact them in a few days. Well, we have been calling, and emailing since last summer. The owner Brent does not have voicemail, and has not returned an email to date. He seems to be a very poor business owner. Be very careful with rentals, and make sure you receive your discount up front, otherwise you will never receive it.Susan

This State Park is new and well laid out for RVing. Nice size spots and with a good distance to your fellow RVers. We came "out of season" and the place was fairly empty. It is without a doubt be a place that I would happily return to. Bath houses was nice and clean. However, the water in the showers was on the chilly side, and I do disagree with the push-button system that was fitted on the shower faucets. I do get irritated with having to press a button in every 5 seconds. I do know why it is done, but it doesn't make me like it at all. Sites do have full hook-up, so using my own shower will remain my preference.

The whole family loves the amazing views at and surrounding this park the campground is its class and you don't have to worry about getting beat up or robbed like at lake mead! Good job Utah

This is a very nice park. We stopped here while heading home after a Zion trip. I was there in July so it was a pretty hot sunny day. Very little shade, the water looked great. I didn't get in myself but everybody raved about it being nice, cold water. I was confused to see a sign in the entrance saying there was swimmers itch. I had no idea what that meant. What we learned from the locals is that in hot weather some type of mirco-organism grows in the water and can make you itchy once you get out of the water. Luckily no one who entered was sensitive and felt any itchiness when they came out. I would definitely stop by again when I visit. I saw kids jumping off a big rock and that looked awesome and fun. The only bad part of the visit was me being sick =[ .

If you want to go and boat a very small lake this is a nice place. If you want to go and ride the sand dunes on an ATV this is a very poor place. Not rolling dunes, only scattered ones. could be a fun Razor ride, but only for about two hours, after that you have seen it all.

Nice area. Actually I just moved into the area but have visited the park and it's neat. Access to BLM land is also available they this park. Good for RV's as well.

We love how nice and clean this campground is. Also love that it has full hookups, showers and restrooms. The only downside and it won't prevent us from visiting again just will be more alert next time is we found 4 black widow spiders (2 in showers, 2 on picnic tables). We had a great time and plan to visit again. Visited during mid-October and loved that water was still 70 degrees and fun to play in. As we were leaving we found out there is a vendor who rents ATV equipment, kayaks, paddleboards, and other boats. Also has a snack bar. Wish we'd found him when we got to the reservoir but we were near the marina and he was further South. We'll know for our next visit.

I rented an ATV from Southern Utah adventure center and rode to the state park ride from their place. I went on a weekday and pretty much had the place to myself, it was an awesome adventure. If you do it definitely get rent on of the Razr's. Riding the dunes was so much fun

Passing thru, visiting family, we stayed a few nights. Have used this park before. Never visited the beach but have enjoyed a few quiet sites on the higher level during the middle of the week. The view of the sandstone cliffs to the north is beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Seen the signs for this park as I was driving to Zion and decided to stop by on my way out. Its a short drive from the main road and not at all hard to find. The entrance had signs posted all over that the Swimmers itch was active so we asked about it. Was told it goes active when the water temp goes above 78 degrees. Which must be often because the water is not flowing and it's in the middle of the desert. The park is covered with Red Sand and Hugh rock walls for fishing. As you drive past the marina/harbor they're are many little parking areas with beach access. The walk to the water is quite far away, so packing lite would be best. The only restrooms I could see we're at the Harbor and at the end of the beach. The park was clean and empty. We didn't swim due to the active swimmers itch. But it was a really nice place to look at.

This little reservoir is close to St George and offers plenty of fun. You can swim, play on the vast sandy beach, and rentals are inexpensive. We rented a jet ski and a Razor that fit 4 people for 2 hours $100 each. You can also rent stand up paddle boards and kayaks. If the water is low however, there is something called swimmers itch you can get if near the vegetation. None of our party had a problem with this though. Cost to get in and park is $10.

Wanted to find a nice campground for a mid week getaway and picked Sand Hollow. We are so glad we did. Nice sites with full hookups, privacy and spectacular views all around. Close enough to town if you need something and quiet with stars at night. Met some nice people in the office who told us about workamping and as a result we will be workampers ourselves in a few weeks. It was a little too windy one day so we drove back into St George to window shop new fifth wheels at Camping World and happened to find the one of our dreams! Needless to say our camping trip cost us a little more than we anticipated but improved our future travels immensely! ;-)

The group campground is very poorly designed. The campground has 4 bathrooms, each with a shower. If there are 50 people in the campground and 4 decide to take a long shower you are out of luck until the showers are done. There was always line outside each bathroom door. The bathrooms are poorly vented. If it's 101 degrees outside, it's 121 in the bathroom. People propped the doors open and the bathrooms filled with bugs. When we arrived, the bathrooms were clean but I don't think they were ever cleaned all weekend. Some campers rinsed the food from their dishes into the sink so there was food in the sinks all weekend long. One toilet was plugged and ran out of paper that was never replenished so we were down to three toilets. The only shaded campground was never available for reservation, but it was empty when we arrived. We asked the ranger about using it, the ranger said, "sure, it's not reserved all weekend." It would have been nice to have been able to reserve the campsite with shade when it's 103 degrees, but for some reason they hold that out of the reservation bank. Sandhollow is amazing beautiful. Sleeping out under the stars, waking the the view of the mountains and water is incredible. With all it has to offer, the facilities are a huge disappointment.

Set among awesomely picturesque red dunes, unfortunately this rather small reservoir is overcrowded with all kinds of gas&oil powered water craft. The water is low now and practically stinks of gas..Visiting on weekends& holidays! Forget it.There is a huge sign at the entrance for the swimmer's ITCH, but no visible sings warning people not to leave their trash all over its otherwise beautiful beaches. There are no trash cans/signs near beaches, and the staff seems preoccupied collecting fees more than anything else..What a shame.
