My wife and I utilized Vaughn 5 years ago on a whirlwind Southern Eastern Utah trip. This time we wanted to slow down and really enjoy the immediate area around Bluff. And we planned the whole trip around Vaughn's availability. We weren't disappointed. Vaughn is one of the leading authorities of the area and it's cultural history in the world. He showed us rock art, artifacts, and dwellings that we'd never find or see on our own. If you want to get off the beaten trail and be amazed, hire Vaughn. And if you want the area to be preserved for future generations, visit www.friendsofcedarmesa.org/. We feel honored to have spent a couple of days with Vaughn. An experience you can't replicate any where else.

I was part of a group of 3 guys (age 52, 62, 63) who used this company in May 2014. What an amazing time with an EXPERT GUIDE! This guy (Vaughn) has vast knowledge and will show you unbelievable cultural sites from early North American inhabitants. The first day we went to Cedar Point, where we saw nany examples of Rock Art. Had a great lunch in a beautiful area. The second day we explored a canyon on Cedar Mesa via the Moki Dugway. Very cool road. In the canyon we saw several examples of graineries and dwelling places of early pueblo indians and basket weavers. Vaughn explains everything and points out the importance of conserving these amazing sites. Everyone should do this trip. We elected to do the day trips and spent the night in Bluff, Utah. Awesome time.

If you have never done any Canyoning before, Jared is a great person to learn from, his patient and direct.

We read an article in the Travel section of the Los Angeles Times about Vaughn and Far Out Expeditions. The next day we email Vaughn and Marcia and booked day hikes for 2 days. We decided we wanted to hike during the day but stay at a hotel with a shower and soft bed at night. The first day we hiked about 3 miles and saw lots of petroglyphs in the morning, Vaughn fixed us lunch and then hiked into Monarch Ruins in the afternoon. The second day was more rigorous hiking with Vaughn taking us to Cedar Mesa where we hiked up and down canyons seeing ruins and petroglyphs and then after lunch went to Butler Wash and saw the Wolf Man panel and another large ruin area. Vaughn's knowledge and stories of the area make it all come alive. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to returning and going to some other areas with Vaughn in the future. Vaughn will customize the trip to your physical abilities, but we actually were surprised at how much we were able to do. We were glad we did the longer hike on the second day, as we were a little sore, but it was well worth it!!

We did not utilize Vaughn's amazing guide skills but got a hint of them from the books that were present at the lodging. I am making plans to revisit Bluff solely to go on an expedition with Vaughn. On this trip, we had kids with us so an expedition was not on the cards. We stayed at the bunkhouse. The accommodations were very comfortable and very clean. Vaughn was there to welcome us when we arrived, and was kind enough to suggest a great place for dinner. The bunkhouse is beautifully located, with a screened patio. The kitchen has all you would need to put together a meal, We used it for breakfast. All in all, a wonderful place to stay if you are interested in exploring this amazing corner of Utah. I would also suggest you do the exploring with Vaughn's help, as I intend to do. Highly recommended.

I went on a day hike but could have spent a week. The owner is an archeologist (as is his wife) and they are both extremely knowledgeable about the area...they tailor the trip to your interests and abilities....we saw much rock art. He has a "bunk house" with cooking facilities" for those coming and going on archeological hikes with him....this is a great resource in an outstanding area.
