This was a small building, by a very nice park. There was an entrance fee of $3.00, and we felt it was not worth the $3.00/ We have visited museums all across this great nation, and this one probably rates in the bottom 10%

Located conveniently where parking is easy (and one hour is free with a voucher from the museum). I visited for a specific reason: to find some information about the City of Coeur d'Alene in the very early 1900's. I was told by a local to see a certain person who was an "encyclopedia of CdA" but alas, she was busy with someone else and when I checked again, she had left. So, I just wandered and looked and enjoyed talking with the volunteer at the front desk. They displayed interesting historical items and pictures in theme-oriented fashion. I was disappointed in not seeing the person with knowledge, but will call for an appointment next time I am in town. I was only slightly disappointed that the museum was, well, "small." Unless they had a stash in a huge warehouse like Smithstonian does, they really need more things to display and more room to do it. That said, I had to pay Diamond Parking a bit more because I exceeded my free hour.Coeur d'Alene has a long and varied history - I've seen pictures (not at the museum unfortunately) of the boom-bust-boom times there. Go to the museum, pay the tiny entry fee, and support their ability to expand.

What a wonderful tribute to the hard working pioneers of the Northwest. Loved it. Great staff, too. Lots of parking and close to downtown, as well.

This is super small but has a plethura of odd information and interesting photos and objects. Only took 15 minutes to walk though, if that.

Don't blink or you will miss it. Somebody please come to the rescue of this tiny museum on prime real estate. It could be so much better...why don't the art students at NIC pitch in and use this museum to showcase their talent displaying the history of this area including the bio's of colorful or important area folks and artwork. It needs so much more. Please, please. Someone help this tiny museum. Visitors want this to be better! Locals want this to be better! And really Coeur d'Alene...the Human Rights building directly behind the History Museum....what the heck is that all about? It just looks odd and most of our friends from out of state agree! Weird.

How often do you get to go to a museum that gives detailed history of the exact place that you are? Well, that is the Museum of North Idaho. While small, it was inexpensive and interesting. I bought an Idaho potato cookbook while I was there and already made one of the recipes. Definitely worth the $4 admission price.

I dn't think the exhabits have been changed in 20 years. If you visitonce and learn about the looging industry of North Idaho you don't have to return the second time.

The location is fabulous. We have been going to this museum for years and it's always the same and always sad. There is so much history in the area and the museum doesn't capitalize on it. Coeur d'Alene is known for its generous locals who have funded a new library, a new community facility at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, artistic endeavors to benefit Excel Foundation and many others. The museum never takes advantage of any of this to improve the facility or the quality of the exhibits. Maybe someone new at the helm would help. So much potential and with such a fantastic location it's a wasted opportunity.

This is a very small museum, but the displays are well done, informative, and educational. This is a great place to learn about local history and the uniqueness of this area. The museum volunteer was friendly and the video was interesting. The museum also has a nice selection of local history books. So while the museum is small, we all know that good things come in small packages and this museum is no exception.

This is a fun thing to do if you get more curious about the history of the Coeur d'Alene area. Fantastic photos from the 19th and early 20th centuries, with some interesting artifacts. Very welcoming hostess the day I was there. Only $3, so worth it for a little slice of Idaho history!

This museum is very small , only 2 small rooms and doesnt have many exhibits. Most of the displays are centered around the mining and timber industries. Fortunately it doesnt cost much to enter.

I wouldn't say you would probably visit more than once unless you were doing research on mining and local north Idaho stuff, but it is nicely done.

This is a valuable and inexpensive stop to soak in the history of this beautiful place. The displays change from time to time. You will learn something that you did not know. You will probably leave this place with a greater appreciation for the city and the area.
