I was so disappointed in my last trip to Spring Valley Reservoir. I've been visiting Spring Valley for over twenty years, and I honestly have to say this is the worst management I have seen with regard to this park- The campsites the day I visited were filthy, remains of stinky and rotting fish pretty much everywhere. People were actually camping in the parking lot the afternoon I was there. The water was muddy and low, this was in the summer, so I understand how that can happen. In general I felt creeped out by the environment as a single woman - even with a large black lab. I spend a lot of time outdoors- from a distance it looks very beautiful- as you get closer - --not so much--- I would imagine it is lovely in the winter- when no-one else is there- and the traffic is light enough for the management to take care of it better.

We took an early morning drive out to here and it is so gorgeous. We love that this county takes great care of it's recreation parks. Everytime I come Moscow to visit my daughter I will definitely drive out here.

Just a little out of the way; but, sure worth the trip. The wildlife and scenery viewing is very nice, and the fishing is great. In addition to trout, there are some large-mouth bass, bluegill and crappie. There is one space reserved for swimming, so, you don't need to worry about kids getting hooks in their feet. There is a ranger who lives on site. Overnight camping is allowed and the camp spots usually have a bit of wood ready to start your campfire. Have almost always caught my limit, even while ice-fishing in the winter.

Not really a tripadvisor site. If I drove a long way to see this I would be REALLY disappointed. Planted fish and muddy water.

Spring Valley Reservoir is Idaho outdoors at it's best. The scenery is stunning, the wildlife active, and the fishing (trout & bass) (even in winter for ice fishing) is good too. It is a wonderful place for birdwatching: we saw eagles, osprey, red-winged blackbirds, flickers, goldfinch, lots of geese with darling fuzzy goslings, and many others on the morning we visited. Deer as well. The walk around the lake is lovely and there are lots of hiking trails too. It is a great place to visit.
