I enjoyed The Amanas during early summer, the weather was perfect for walking around and just enjoying the laid back atmosphere. Ackerman Winery has a great tasting area and some delicious fruit wines. I highly recommend the Peach, the Mango and the Dandelion.

I just love this store, it is always the first one I stop at when I am visiting Amana Colonies. Such a great store, good prices, good selection of wines, cheeses and gift ideas.

Passed through Amana today and just had to stop here. There was quite a variety of wines including rasberry, rhubarb, cherry, mango, cranberry, and dandelion??! Almost all were on the sweeter side. The server was really helpful and friendly. They let us taste as many of the wines as we wanted. Our favorites were the Black Razzy and Lovers Wine. There were several cheeses available for tasting and a cute shop with wine racks and gadgets.

It was fun to be able to try the samples of the wines offered for sale before buying them. There were several good and different wines to try.

My wife likes wine. She has found this to be the best wine she has ever drank. She has tryed other wines but they just do match up to the Ackerman's Wine.

Years ago, I had come across their dandelion wine. Since then have looked everywhere. My son found one other winery in the U.S. that made dandelion wine, but it did not compare favorably. The Ackerman winery has a nice historical display of its beginning and processes, in addition to the wine room. The winery has many fruit based wines--cranberry, apricot, rhubarb, pomegranate, to name a few. They are all on the sweet side, but a few other types are available. Tastings available. An upstairs room has some home décor items, and some food items are available on the main floor, along with related wine accessories.

We like sweet wines and they had the best. We have found only one other winery that we liked the wines as well and it was in WV. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The winery was clean and neat and had a large selection to choose from with unlimited tasting.

Very enjoyable visit. The staff took the time to discuss the history, process and recent awards the winery received. We sampled a few wines and bought some unique, but very good tasting wines. The dandelion and various cranberry wines were my favorites.

They have many wines to choose from, many are sweet desert wines but the have a small selection whites and reds to choose from if you don't like the sweet wines. They try to use very little sulphate so if you get headaches from other wines give them a try.

Didn't go into the winery as we had already visited Fireside and bought several bottles but did run across Ackerman wines in general store. My husband is a wine buff so we sampled a few different types. He didn't care too much for their dry reds but I did find some unusual more fruity wines that I liked. The Dandelion was quite different, as was the Cranberry-Apple, and Elderberry. Next trip I would stop in for even more samples.

Went to the Amanas today for girls weekend. We went to every winery in town, and we all agreed that this was our favorite. They have both fruit and more traditional grape wines. They were generous with as many samples as we wanted to try. The shop had a lot of great modern gifts and wine related items for sale.

We visited the Amana Colonies because my son lives in Iowa. It was a beautiful day to walk to each different store in this historical place. We did the free wine tasting. I bought 3 bottles of wine here. The person telling us about each wine was very informative and nice.
