Wonderful, clean, very close to town (Isle), spacious, fantastic beach, two fish piers, and a very nice boat landing. This place is perfect for a quick get away!

This is a great little park, which is particularly pretty in the fall! We aren't campers, but if we were, we'd love it here!

Almost no complaints!! Friendly DNR Staff. Terribly high wood prices, and the wood had trouble burning.

This was our first visit to Father Hennepin State Park, Wow, what a great camping area. The two campgrounds are quite different in character, the Lakeview Campground is very popular, open, airy and presents a wonderful view of the lake; the Maple Grove Campground is more "woodsy" with trails that wind through the trees and finally lead to the lake. As the week commenced both areas began to fill with campers but never felt crowded. The park is extremely well maintained and the staff is wonderful. The nearby town of Isle has all amenities you could ask for and it is just down the road.

Our family has used this park for weddings, reunions and other events for years. This was my first trip to the park and I was really impressed. We used a lake front pavilion that was tucked in the woods for our reunion. Even though the lake has a lot of boat and jet ski traffic we couldn't hear them at all because of the beautiful trees surrounding the area. We also went to Pope Beach to swim. We were concerned about lake itch since it was later in the swimming season, but we didn't have any problems. Just be sure to rinse off (with the provided shower spigot) when you're done! We didn't camp at this location, but the camp sites looked really well maintained and relatively private. There were lots of families biking around on the paved paths. It's certainly a place I'd use again!

We enjoyed the trails and beaches at Father Hennepin! A great family destination. There are a few fishing docks, too.

Truly one of the most beautiful parks in MN. I came here this summer with my wife to do some hiking. The hike starts along Lake Mille Lacs with some amazing views. It was a perfect sunny day with a nice warm breeze coming off the lake. The actual views of the lake are stunning, much like an inland sea due to the size. You can't see the other side just a dotting of islands and shoreline stretching off into the distance. The hike thru the woods yielded some mosquitos but not too bad. All in all well worth the trip and worth spending some good time at. Also the campgrounds looked great.

We had planned to camp at Scenic state park on our back back to Canada from Minneapolis. Our van broke down on the way, and we would have arrived to late after all the repairs were said and done. We literally looked up state parks we could get to by 10pm and this is where we landed. Are we ever lucky the van broke down. Clearest water I've ever seen. Huge campsites, beautiful, thick woods. We only wish we had more time there!

Wow, A great place to stay instead of Hunter Winfields. You don't get screwed on the Price and the Park Rangers are very friendly. It is a jewel in the crown of Mille Lacs.
