My wife had never gone skiing before, and this is the perfect place for beginners. Very gentle bunny hill with conveyor to get back up, great for just learning how to control yourself. Right next to that is a longer bunny hill, a little longer and steeper with a rope to get back up. After doing that for 20 minutes, we went on the ski lift to the top where there is a nice, gentle green run all the way down. Paid $120 for 2 rentals, and lift tickets after 3. I thought it was fairly reasonable for what you get. This isn't the Rockies, you know.

The staff at Detroit Mountain is exceptional. After checking in, my son and nephew were on the slopes within 15 minutes and it was a busy Saturday. The variety of slopes and terrain park was pleasing for these snowboarders. We all loved the guitar musician entertaining us while warming up by the fireplace. 9 hours of lots of fun!

Great place to ski and enjoy the beautiful outdoors in northern Minnesota! We skied twice over the Christmas holidays and had a great time. The ski area opened after being totally redesigned over the last ten years with two ski lifts, tow rope and a "rubber mat" for those beginners. Some of the runs are through trees and even if you are a black skier you can have some fun. Bring the family and enjoy the day.... warming up in the lounge with hot chocolate and then outside to ski again. The rental equipment is all new and high tech...and the prices in the lodge are very very reasonable! $5 for pizza, soup and chili, Deli sandwiches and the bar area is connected so you can grab a beer or wine. The lodge is perfectly situated so you can see the beginner slopes and the main ski lift. On the day after Christmas we skied with the family and had a beginner, never skied, 11 year old. We took her to the beginner slopes and she quickly learned and then by the afternoon we were skiing down the slope from the Z-lift. Take your family.... schedule a lesson and learn to ski....enjoy the Minnesota winter! Fun for everyone.

What a wonderful place for families, couples or singles. A great variety of hills for the very beginner through the most advanced skiers and snow boarders...there's a tubing, sledding hill with a 'magic carpet' ride up the hill, much like the moving sidewalks at airports. An espresso, coffee shop is at the base of the tubing hill. A beautifully designed lodge with basic eats (hot dogs, burgers, etc) and a beer and wine bar with a view of the hills' activities...lit up well at night. Ambiance is terrific...and a great place for families to take smaller children tubing. A wonderful addition to the area...the municipality did a bang up job on this one.
