What a great vineyard. Tiny, with great wine and great people. Luca is the son of the founder, Sal. Both were in their element, pouring the wine they made and it's really good.Luca looked after us. He has deep knowledge of wine making. He's also really interested in you having an enjoyable experience and learning about wine.It makes a tremendous difference when you're talking with the person that made the wine and owns the vineyard. Turdo is really worth the visit. If you only have time for one vineyard this is it.

This is my second visit to Turdo Vineyards. I had last visited this excellent winery in 2009. Since then I have visited over 50 wineries (More than half are Napa/Sonoma wines) and was curious to how well these wines would hold after all that tasting. We arrived close to closing time. Both Sara and Sal were running the tasting room. Sara remembered us from back then (that was very touching.) Then came the tasting.... Wow. The wines were way better than I remembered them to be. My favorite wines were 2013 Nero D’Avola, Persara and Barbera. These three were the red wines they had available and what a treat! If you love red wines and have lost faith in east coast red wines... let me tell you, your faith will be restored.

The restaurant where we made dinner reservations features this winery so we decided to take a ride and try it. It was a slow day in the off season and Luca the winemaker was working the tasting room. In addition to being knowledgable, Luca was delightful, filling us in on the history of the vinyard,and the wines. The whites are Sauvingnon Blanc, a dry Riesling (a blast of green apples on the nose, like a Finger Lakes riesling but bone dry), And Albarino...where else do you see that? Honey and stone fruits, but dry, not sweet, wine. The reds are serious Italian varieties... Barbera, Nero d'Avola from Sicily and Nebbiolo. Also a Bordeaux blend. You can tell all of these will be great after some time in the cellar.. Yummy!Definitely worth a stop.

What a treat to stumble across the fine Turis and DeLuca wines here at Turdo vineyards. I agree that true oenophiles will not be disappointed, and that the Nero D'Avola is a rare and special find in the US, and elegantly crafted. The Nebbiolo is sophisticated as well, but we enjoyed all the reds and whites we tasted. Great family story, too. I love supporting craftsmen like this. And they have created an enjoyable environment for experiencing their wines as well. Do yourself a favor and pay a visit. You won't regret it!

Sal, Sara and Luca Turdo produce Cape May's finest wines. The Italian varietals rival some of the best wines from Italy. If you are a true oenophile, Turdo Vineyard is a required stop whilst in the Cape May area. I highly recommend the Nero D'avola - Turdo is one of only two vineyards in the USA to grow this very special Sicilian grape. The wine, after proper aging, is phenomenal. You will not be disappointed.

Our friends took us to Turdo today and bought a bottle of wine for us to sit and enjoy. The sitting area was very nice and relaxing. Later we went inside and tasted each of the wines they had left (they close for the season when they sell out --- not too long from now). I liked everything I tasted and bought eight bottles. Plan to return next season, and bring a picnic basket to enjoy with their wine. I'm eager to try the wines that were already sold out as the ones that were left were quite good! Oh, I found the staff to be very pleasant as well, and we even met the owner.

My friends and I make it a point to visit Turdo several times over the summer. We go in early June with a group of ladies for our annual outing. Then several times, I have gone with friends who couldn't make the June trip. Each visit becomes more and more of time with family -the Turdo family. Sal and Sara are the most gracious hosts of their vineyard which happens to be in their back yard. Their son, Luca, welcomes us each time with a warm and genuine smile. No matter how busy, he makes it a point to spend time with us. Sitting outside sipping vino looking out at the grapes on the vines with the beautiful flowering baskets and fruit trees reminds one of the vineyards in Italy. The wines seem to get better every year. I know many are already sold out for 2014 but already looking forward to 2015.

This is the best wine we have had . The family is very accommodating and treat you like family. Love the Nebeola and Pesara . I have not had a bad wine there ever looking forward to seeing them again this summer.

We were on our way to another winery when we stumbled upon this cute little place. All of the wines I sampled were fantastic! I especially love the Persara. I will definitely be back to purchase more wines. The crazy few that said this place was terrible and the wines were terrible must be on crack. Do not listen to them! This place is definitely worth a try if you enjoy good wines.

Nice small vineyard and winery with friendly owners. Enjoyed the tasting and bought wine to take home and enjoy. Nice outside seating and appetizers available.

We have been visiting Turdo Winery for the past five years or so. We were pleased to meet Sal this year as he was working in the tasting room with his wife, Sara, rather than in the vineyard. They are gracious hosts. We were a little disappointed that we could not taste any Pinot noir or Nebbiolo but appreciate that, as a small winery which only uses its own grapes, that the weather impacts production and availability. We honestly have not had a bad bottle of wine from here. We love the reds - Persara, nero d'avola and Barbera. Luca, their son, also makes wine but none of his reds were available for tasting or purchase because of his success supplying wine to a local casino. We did score a few of his Rosso label at the local Cape May liquor store, Colliers. Support this local winery - you won't be sorry.

It was rainy so we didn't have a lot to do and decided to check out the winery. It's pretty small but oh my gosh were the wines good! I'm typically a California wine person but I went home with 2 cases of their wine because it was that good.It's a really cute winery and there isn't a tour. On a nice day I would suggest bringing lunch there and eating outside. You can do the tasting as your drinks with the meal. They have tables for that so I'm guessing that's a popular spot for that. I'm big into red wines but they had some whites I really enjoyed as well. Really good bang for your buck. The tasting is $5 and you try a bunch of wines (we did 5 when we were there). We will definitely be back but next time do it as lunch for sure.

Turdo vineyards in North Cape May is a small, family-owned local vineyard. All the grapes are grown on site, and what grapes they are! All Italian, and from the PIedmont and from Tuscany. Lovingly blended by Sal, the owner. Members of his family work in the tasting room. And the tastes! I first visited when I rode by on my bicycle, and Sara took my five dollars and transported me to Italy. I'm a red wine person, and I must say I was hooked on their Merlot five years ago. It was smoky and soft, and full of grape-y goodness. They have a few wines that are not available to taste, but I bought them because I didn't taste anything that I didn't like. I have a Nebbiolo that is sitting in my wine fridge, waiting for the tannins to soften, and I can't wait to drink it. I have bought their Nero d'Avila every year, and have never been disappointed. They are a small vineyard, and don't produce zillions of cases each year, so it just makes sense that that you find out when these "special" wines become available, and buy them. I haunt the place in the late spring, waiting for the new wines to become available, and I buy in bulk.

This small winery in North Cape May is a great place to stop in your travels in the area. My husband and I visited mid week and had Sara all to ourselves. Sara, her husband and son own and run the winery. You get to taste 5 wines for $5.00. Although my husband is not usually impressed with wine made in NJ, he really enjoyed the wines at this vineyard and the background information Sara supplied on each. Any wine enthusiast would enjoy meeting Sara and trying their wines.

Had the pleasure of visiting your winery. Beautiful day,lovely surroundings and excellent wine selection. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Was the smallest winery we visited however the best by far!! Will be sending all my wine lover friends your way. Thanks for a great experience!! Ps the Sangiovese is definitely a signature wine!! Turdo Winery should be on everyone's list of great places to visit in NJ.
