I take my dogs hiking here almost daily. The trails are very well maintain and there are so many areas that I rarely run I to anyone else unless on the weekends.

We recently visited this spot, scoping it out for an organizational event next month. I had never been here before, despite living in the area for 50+ years. What a find. It is beautiful, large, expansive and conducive to family trips. In season, there is a lovely beach for swimming. But there are many possibilities for hikes, cook-outs and equipment for young children to enjoy. As best I could tell, there was no admission fee either, but that could be just because it was the end of the summer season. And when you are in the area, you can visit Jockey Hollow, the Ford Mansion, Tempe Wicke cottage, all of which are nearby and very historical.

Today we walked on a part of the Patriot's trail. I am always looking for a new place to go, so Lewis Morris was a first. It's Eastern woodlands with ups and downs, with some wide sections, and all of it marked with blazes. It was peace and quiet with only 3 bikers and 4 hikers. Sunrise Lake would be worth a visit in the summer for a swim. The entire place is well maintained.

Great Moderate Single Track Mountain Biking - Just Fun. Can rent a bike at Martys Reliable Cycle! This is the biggest attraction for our friends who come for the weekend to stay and play. Dogs allowed on leash

It's history in our backyard. You really stop and think that this is where our heritage was started. The calm walk and the gentle environment was not the case when Washington's troops were camped here. Definitely see the movie about life at the camp. I have never seen winters in NJ qute the same. Heat, medicine, boots were all lacking. I love the herb garden at all times of th year.

We hike here regularly. The selection of loop trails lets us make our hikes longer or shorter. The trails are well-maintained by the park, though the mountain bikes do some damage. We don't mind sharing the trail with them, if they don't leave trash behind (a peeve). There is a dog park that is popular with dog owners, and every halloween dogs in costume reign. Groups regularly use the picnic facilities and the baseball diamonds. Sunset Lake has a small imported sand beach and a life guard for swimmers, though we have never swum there. Our interest is primarily in the trails.

good for any sport, nice open grounds, lake atmosphere, as well as bike terrains. Also have a dog park, cool for kids to just watch them play together, behind a fence.

Nice place for a hike in nature. Many places are still closed after super storm Sandy, but this place is open for enjoyment.

Morris County, NJ has some of the best parks in the state and Lewis Morris is no exception. I have been hiking these trails for about 20 years. There is a volunteer crew of "park lovers", who along with the county park workers keep the trails in great condition, occasionally adding a new trail or closing an existing one. There are several parking areas on Rt. 124 between Morristown and Mendham, a large parking area by the lake, and a small parking lot off Tempe Wyck Road, just past the entrance to Jockey Hollow. There are a few areas where dogs can take a dip in the streams and although "illegal", many dog owners let their dogs off leash. All the owners I've encountered keep their pets well mannered. During the weekdays, the park is basically empty, but on the weekends, more of the bikers are evident. For the bikers, it's a very nice single track, which from what I understand, it's about a 6 mile loop, with plenty of moderately challenging hills. As far as hiking the trails, they vary from easy to moderate, but I would recommend hiking boots, as it can be rocky. There is a fitness trail and a children's playground. In the winter, there is a spectacular downhill for sleigh riding. Seasonally there is restroom facilities at the lake house, otherwise a port-a-john in one of the parking areas. As the seasons change, the landscape changes and you can enjoy every season in this beautiful park!!!

Lewis Morris Park is a 1154 acre recreational park located in a hilly woodland area of Morris County adjacent to Jockey Hollow National Historical Park. This county park has a lot to offer, including a swimming and fishing lake with snack bar, hiking and mountain bike trails, picnic areas, athletic fields, playground, fitness stations, and an off-leash dog area. Lewis Morris Park is open year round except "Sunrise Lake" which is only open for swimming during the summer months. I've been here at different times of the year and enjoy walking my dog on some of the back trails. Dogs must be leashed in the park except in the off-leash area.
