We had a wonderful time on this ride. Karen, the owner, and her daughter took us out for a wonderful ride. Their dogs accompanied us and provided a great deal of drama when they got involved with a coyote! Fortunately, Karen (a true cowgirl!) ran off the coyote and our ride continued without incident. The scenery is beautiful, the ride fun, and the horses are great. It makes it extra special to know the horses are rescue animals. Great time all around!

Went out with Karen , the owner of Santa Fe Stables, at the end of March. I had never been on a horse before and the others in the group had some experience. Karen knew which horses to match us with and very patient and making sure we and the horses felt comfortable the whole time we were out on the trail . We went on 2 hour ride and the scenery was beautiful. We all wish we had more time to spend with her and the horses. Will definitely go back again on my next trip to Santa Fe!

We like Sanat Fe Stables' trail rides so much, we are posting this review on several sites: We have enjoyed several trail rides with the owner, staff, and horses of Santa Fe Stables. No matter what the experience level in our group, they have a horse and a guide to match. The staff's attention to each rider's abilities and enjoyment, coupled with the stunning backdrop of Black Mesa and the backcountry of the Santa Clara Pueblo, have time after time given us an outdoor experience that simply can't be beat. Each ride has been a pleasant, all around fulfilling equine experience that leaves us promising to come back every time. Bottom line for us: A great time, every time.

I recently spent two hours with Karen (the owner) on a trail ride through the beautiful countryside of the Santa Clara reservation. It was classic Northern New Mexico: big, blue skies, dramatic cliffs, and every color of green that one can imagine. My horse, Rosie, was a sweetie. Very responsive, but patient with my lack of skill. I felt absolutely safe. Karen is fantastic. She has a great sense of humor and is very concerned with the welfare of the horses at the same time that she wants to be sure that riders get a good experience. I signed up with Santa Fe Stables because they could accommodate a single rider for a modest extra fee. I initially hesitated when I read that the ride would include countryside along a golf course. Don't let this stop you! The golf course remains on the fringes of your view and defies most cliches about golf courses. It is a sustainable design that uses a special drought-resistant breed of grass developed by NM State University and is run by the Santa Clara pueblo tribe. The patches of brilliant green against the native landscape are gorgeous. I can't wait to go back!
