If you're a rockhound, and have any interest in geodes and thundereggs, don't miss visiting this museum and talking to the two fellows who are world renown experts in the field. Buy a specimen or two to take home. Most of their geodes are mined locally.

Too many times we waste our time watching mindless tv or allowing our children to play limitless video games. It takes a little effort to find our museums and fill their minds with information that later can help them in school or their life!

This is a fascinating little museum right near the entrance to the "Rockhound State Park" in Deming. See the fabulous geode collection at the Deming Museum in downtown Deming then head on out to see the fascinating geologists at this little museum on the side of the road. Filled with rocks inside and out from various local New Mexican mineral mines, you can have a wonderful conversation with the human gems here! You can also buy rocks in all states from raw to cut and polished, as well as a very interesting DVD that will take you on adventures for hours with "thundereggs" and "The Geode Kid" and magnificent photos. Check out their website at http://www.zianet.com/geodekid/collecti.htm

The two gentlemen that run this establishment are incredibly knowlegable!! My brother and sister-in-law have lived near them for 6 yrs, and each visit I make sure and stop to buy some of their beautiful cut rocks!! If you are a frustrated rockhound, plan on spending alot of time here! It is from the outside a small building, but don't let it stop you from entering and enjoying!!!!!
