international bowling museum & hall of fame

As a member of the Professional Bowlers Association I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge of Bowling. The International Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame did just that. Interactive exhibits helped tell the history of the sport all the way back to the Ancient Egyptians. A fun Visit.

I Love bowling even though I am not that good at it. Learned some interesting facts about it and there is a little game where you can throw a small ball to hit some pins which was fun to try.

As life long Tenpin bowlers this was an excellent look into the history of Tenpin Bowling, but what was great and appealing to everyone was the level of interactiveness of the displays. Everyone can learn about the sport and have fun with the displays. Certainly worth a visit!

I liked this museum because of all the interactive things you can do including a bowling alley that you can bowll 5 frames. Great place for kids too. Leagues from this sport have contributed to many charities. I liked everything about it and learned a lot about the history of the bowling. Very educational.

I recently attended an event at this museum, and I was delightfully surprised at the variety of displays; interactive, historical, and purely visual. I once was a league bowler, as were my now-grown kids. Seeing the displays brought back fun memories, and reading about the history of this sport was very interesting as well. I most enjoyed seeing the multi step process of how a bowling ball is actually made, and I was intrigued in learning about the history of the "pin boys." This museum has a large conference room inside, as well as several additional places onsite for meetings. It would be a good place to host an off-site meeting for a corporate work team. There is a cute, gift shop at the end of the tour, and an on-site bowling, training center, where serious bowlers can better hone their lane skills. I would definitely recommend this museum for families; there is more than adequate space to push a stroller if you have babies or toddlers. It's fairly easy to keep track of older children, and they will love the many, interactive games & exhibits. It's also just a fun time for anyone who enjoys bowling. There is ample, free parking, and the location is super-easy to find. Right next to Six Flags...just look for the BIG bowling pin!

When I told friends & family I was going to this museum, they wondered why. Since when was I a bowling fan? You don't have to be a bowler to enjoy. It is done really well & actually brings back memories of bowling as a teenager or my child's bowling birthday parties. It makes use of the best of current technology to bring you bowling's past & after spending an hour here, you feel like bowling. So I was glad to see 2 small lanes at the end to enjoy some time on the lanes! This is family fun, or even if you just grab a friend. Go to this museum. It will "bowl" you over.

My husband and sons are huge bowlers. My son was the Texas state high school singles bowling champ for 2013, just to give you an idea of how huge. The museum was chock-full of fascinating history and information. It doesn't take too terribly long to go through so it doesn't get boring. At the end is a miniature bowling game that you can actually play. I had to pull my son away when it was time for the museum to close. We all had a blast with it. Whether you're a big-time bowler, a history buff, or just someone who's curious - this museum is worth your time and the five bucks it takes to get in.

This was a disappointment. There was really nothing to the place. Would never recommend even to the most avid bowling fan.

Go and see the video history of bowling it has surprises and is worth a visit. Definitely worth a few hours and inexpensive. Very interactive. The day I went it was $10 to get in and 3 kids were free. It's all on one floor so no stairs.

So we went to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame thinking it would be maybe an hour visit, we were wrong, it was a two and a half hour tour that was very insightful and fun. From the history of bowling to pointers on how to improve your game, it had it all. My 11 and 15 year old daughters loved it. If you are in Arlington I recommend the IBMHOF. If your a USBC member you get a discount as well.

That's right, there's evidence of bowling from ancient Egyptian days. I went here with a friend when we had a free day to kill in Arlington. We stayed a lot longer than expected because it was pretty interesting and quite interactive. I had no idea there was a bowling museum but I'm now one of two friends who've gone! It's good for one visit but I probably wouldn't go back.

We went there because we had some time to kill before a concert. They have a lot of exhibits about bowling including the history of bowling, famous moments in bowling, and more. I think seeing it once was enough.

I had a great time - your mileage may vary, depending on activities you enjoy. Bowling enthusiasts - why are you even reading this? Go! Do you like history or finding out how things work - or just enjoy clever museum exhibits? This is for you. There's plenty of interactive exhibits, goofy humor and quirky facts. Plus there's two mini bowling lanes towards the end of the circuit. True, there's plenty of old trophies and memorabilia tucked in corners - only a problem if you're trapped with a friend/family member who reads EVERYTHING. Kids? I believe it would be better for older kids vs. say, preschoolers. There's some computer games and cartoons specifically for kids, but most of the fun and information has a strong verbal component. But there's mini-bowling (multiple people can take turns on one lane. Pins are set with some string system that can tangle occasionally.) And if all of the above sounds like purgatory to you, now you know. The staff were very pleasant and enthusiastic. There were hardly any other visitors on a summer weekday (true, it was around the lunch hour), so we could bowl and punch buttons to our hearts' content. We spent about two hours - one companion does lean towards the read everything personality but was not too extreme this time. One caveat - it's located in the same area as the ballpark and stadium - game traffic and closed streets can make it irritating to reach. It's worth timing your visit to avoid game starts.

In fairness, my visit to the museum and hall of fame was with a business group. There were a lot of people around and the food tables were set up in places that made going through the museum difficult. I believe I would have enjoyed it more if I had gone through the museum on another day. It was interesting to see a lot of the displays and the old bowling alleys would have been fun to try (too crowded). I did get to read some of the displays and enjoyed reading about some of the history but the location is so cut up that if there is a crowd, you miss a lot. Might go back again someday but not in any hurry.

Love bringing out of town guests here. Lots of fun even if you've never been to a bowling alley in your life. Great for all ages.
