The location is a little off the beaten path but worth finding. There are several benches on the bridge that overlook the Comal river as it flows over a dam on one side and the flow on the other. The day was warm for the time of the year so there where people fishing swimming and kayaking. A great place to sit and reflect on this impressive Whipple Truss Bridge built in 1887 constructed by King Iron and Bridge Company of Cleveland, Ohio. Which is only 60 miles from my hometown. More facts can be viewed here (http://historicbridgefoundation.com/txbridges/hillcountry/comal/faust.html)

It is beautiful however there is only about 8 parking spaces available therefore its difficult to visit. New Braunfels Texas is notorious for never having any parking available for any of their attractions they brag they are famous for. Forget about tubbing the Comal or Guadalupe river in New Braunfels because you won't find parking.

While I wouldn't normally go out of my way to visit a bridge, I'm glad we visited this one. Even in the middle of the day, we had this historic pedestrian bridge to ourselves for a while. It was nice to hear our footsteps on the wooden bridge floor as we crossed, while listening to the sounds of families sliding down the "falls" below.A nice bridge to cross hand-in-hand with a loved one and imagine the two of you back in time. There is a nice breeze over the water, and there are benches to stop and reflect, enjoy the scenery, or even a picnic lunch. Below there may be picnickers, fishing boats, kayaks, or families playing on the "falls." If you're in the area and love bridges, history, or just need to stretch your legs, it's worth a quick visit. There is free parking at the end of the bridge.

The Faust Street Bridge is a truss, pedestrian only bridge, c 1887. We happened on it by accident, and enjoyed the respite. As others stated, it is relaxing and you get that "old" feel from the iron trusses and wood slats. There are benches to sit and rest on, but don't go in the middle of the day as we did (we didn't choose the heat of the day since we just happened on it!). We enjoyed reading its history. There are dirt paths down to the river, and people were swimming and playing in the water near the "falls." Interesting history, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make a stop here unless you are a history buff.

I stumbled on the bridge while taking a side street. What a treat. The bridge is over the Guadalupe River and is on a bike path.It is right in the city but it feels like you are outside the city while on the bridge. The day I was there I saw a couple of cyclists and a few people out for a walk. There are benches and lights. It would be a nice quiet place to pack a light lunch and just enjoy the view. There is a path down to the water, but I didn't have the right shoes on to try it. I take the path to the water next time.

If you have a compulsion to go over interesting bridges than this is worth the trip. Plus a bonus wedding service going on down below.

It took a little effort to find but the results were well worth it. The views of the river were quite relaxing. There were people fishing in the river below having a wonderful time.

A nice walk across and below the bridge. We enjoyed watching people fish and swim. We enjoyed taking pictures. There is a walkway to get closer to the falls.

There are not that many of these old bridges around and if you have not taken the kids (young and old) to walk across the bridge this would be an excellent location if you are close to New Braunfels. And it will not cost you a penny and the kids will have a great time looking down at the river and crossing an old iron bridge. That is a story for "show and tell" next week at grade school. Take some pictures so the kids can show their classmates and tell than about the "old rusted, almost falling down" bridge. Yes--that should be the story and the other kids will be amazed.

Very pretty and we ate there for the atmosphere and the great view. Can be a romantic place to go which is not a far ways from Austin or San Antonio.

This ol' Bridge holds years of history...walk and cross the Guadalupe River. Stop and reflect on the past and goin' to work at the Cotton Mill....bringing in the crops of the area and dream a little dream for the future.

We visited the bridge based on reviews. It was okay, not really anything I wanted a picture of. We only stayed a few minutes. Didn't really think it was worth the trip.
