$10 per person, the exhibit are interesting with the west artifacts like saddles, carriage but it is small and one hour is enough to cover everything

The Briscoe Western Art Museum is a short walk from the Riverwalk and the Alamo. It not only has canvas art, but also has casted sculptures.

We chanced on this museum on the Riverwalk and went in because it was cold outside and we had time to kill. It was a delight. I'm not a great fan of museums but this one was extraordinarily well arranged, in a spacious and vibrant historic building repurposed, and rooms were arranged thematically rather than by genre. Interesting and beautiful items. Highlight for me we're the short videos on pad devices - artist interviews, oral histories etc.

The collection of artwork and information that is shared by audio and film was superb. I found myself totally taken back in time as I wandered throughout the exhibit. Very extensive collection of artifacts.

Small but great collection of western art. Decent collection of saddles and guns. $10 admission, 8 for retired military and seniors. It does accept reciprocal admission from other art museums and institutes, but you need the gold sticker on your card to gain free access. Overall, very pleased with Briscoe.

My wife and family really enjoyed the various exhibits. Made us want to do more in-depth look at our western heritage and history.

The art was beautiful, love the display of the original Alamo scene. This is something that can help you visualize the Alamo after you have toured it or before.

Small, but great western museum with great Wells Fargo stagecoach, good gun collection and great little building.

A new museum with some excellent paintings of Indians and ranch life. A great personal collection from the late Governor Dolph Briscoe. Wonderful gift/souvenir shop. I bought a great book about Indians there: "Empire of The Summer Moon" by S.C. Gwynne. After reading it I wanted to go back to the Briscoe Museum, which I did, and enjoyed it even more. One of downtown's jewels.

This is the only museum we went to. We enjoyed the are and historical items on display which also had a lot of interesting information on how they were used in the old west.

The Briscoe is also on the Riverwalk and a great surprise. The building is beautiful, it was the old San Antonio library. The exhibits give a fascinating story of the people who settled this part of Texas with videos and then displays of art and artifacts to accompany the videos. I was impressed and highly recommend this for a view of the cultural history of Texas.

Sculptures were amazing especially the buffalos and cattle stampede. And the leather stairs were so unique.

The Briscoe Museum is housed an a splendid building that began its life in the 1930s as a public library. If magnificently tooled saddles and spurs are your thing, this is the sort of place for you. There are also some fine paintings, sculptures and photographs--all western themed--and an attractive sculpture garden. What really impressed me was a special exhibit of the art of students from various Texas high schools. It was clear not only that there are some very good students in Texas schools, but that they must have some great art teachers!

This place starts out with a full size stagecoach in the lobby. Has many historical displays of a saddle of Santa Ana, a huge collections of firearms used at the Alamo, a miniature Alamo layout with headphones telling stories and much more. Also has recent artwork displayed on the walls. I DO recommend a visit. Just North of La Vallita.
