Great place to visit. Knowledgeable and friendly staff! Animals are happy and those nonvenemous are handled by staff. Some animals can be on request petted. Great for Boy and Girl Scout Troops. Great admission fee 12 and under $2 a person, 13 and over $3 a person.

I have held a party here and attended six others. Every party was a success and very easy to host. There are plenty of tables and chairs for parents who wish to stay. Staff always fun and informative.

Pretty nice place I felt kind of bad for some of the animals but for San Angelo it was overall a nice experience.

My husband has donated to this Nature Center based on the quality of care they give the animals. You can truly see that they are interested in their well being and also to teach everyone about each species. My granddaughter and grandson actually had their birthday parties here and the other children loved it. It is such a great learning experience for everyone!

This small nature center packs way above its punch, with a large number of animals, insects and reptiles for the small size of the museum. One of the staff gave me a personal guided tour which was fascinating. I saw two giant tortoises sheltering in the garden from the sun. Don't miss the Burmese python, all 250 pounds of him/her and all coiled up in its cage! The bobcats were interesting to watch. The museum has a large collection of snakes, one of which is totally harmless and you can pet. Ask to watch a DVD in the main part of the museum if you've time.Definitely worth a visit. The center could be better signposted, as I drove straight past it without seeing it! Driving south from San Angelo and turning right onto Knickerbocker Road, the center is located immediately to the right once you've crossed the Veterans' Memorial Bridge. If you reach the Vietnam War Memorial, with the helicopter suspended in the air, then you driven too far and need to turn back! The center has a small brochure for a nature trail which is a couple of miles further down the road (just past the Vietnam War Memorial). I did this trail in the early evening as the sun is not so strong, and really appreciated it. I could smell the trees and flowers right up close.

I went to the Nature Center with my daughter and my 4 grandchildren visiting from out of state. We loved it and they enjoyed holding a few of the animals and seeing so many neat ones from the area and other parts of the world. It was worth the time!!

We loved this place. It is very interesting and the nature specialist let us pet a snake, a prairie dog, a turtle and some other animals. She is really nice. We loved it. It is located just on the site of the lake where there is a very nice view.

Beautiful location. The Saturday I visited a number of youthful and knowledgeable volunteers were doing an excellent showing the animals to visitors and letting children see the animals up close. There are exhibits on mammals, reptiles, amphibian, fish, buttterflies, shells insects, etc. both native to Texas and from other parts of the world. Very fascinating. I thought the animals all seemed healthy and well cared for and cages were very clean. Larger mammals and a one mile interpretive trail (not wheelchair or stroller accessible as it is narrow) are outside. A brochure telling about the 20 interpretative sites on the trail is available at the front desk. Closed Sunday and Mondays.

Fabulous place to have a birthday party, and the reptile collection is outstanding. Michael Price and his staff are exceptional.

What an amazing place to spend some time in San Angelo. See the bobcats, lemur, raccoons, prarie dogs and many more. If you are a snake person t his is a must see. The San Angelo Nature center is one of the few places that can import species from Mexico. DON'T MISS THIS JEWEL hidden out by Lake Nasworthy.

Relative to other things to do in San Angelo this gets a higher rating, but for a city slicker like me, there's not much to it. They are very passionate about sharing the animals with visitors and do a lot of educational outreach with the local schools. Kudos for that!
