My wife (63) and I (65) had Charlie as our guide on Rio Grande River trip in Santa Elena Canyon. He knew our abilities and limitations. He crafted a perfect day for us. And we also had a great lunch! He knows LOTS about this area. I'd use him again when we come back.

Enjoyed our Jeep tour of Big Bend with Charlie Angell. Charlie has a lot of knowledge about the history of Big Bend, as well as knowledge of the plants and animals in Big Bend. Our favorite stops were at Santa Elena Canyon and a delicious picnic lunch at the Hot Springs. Our time in Big Bend was limited, but I feel that Charlie showed us the highlights of Big Bend. I would highly recommend a tour with Angell Expeditions.

We took a 3 day, 2 overnight paddling trip with Angell Expeditions through the Santa Elena Canyon. Marvelous...awesome...fun... cared for... wild but safe...the superlatives could continue! Our trip was unusual in several ways: winter, family of 4 (older teens), paddled the whole Canyon. From the start of our planning 9 months ahead, Charlie was responsive and creative to designing a trip for our dreams. On the trip, he and Tim, his skilled and fun assistant, paddled 2 canoes laden with all the camping and food and comfort gear, and we paddled 2 inflatable kayaks. WIth our intermediate paddling skills, we relied on them for lots of guidance, scouting the river and encouragement- and got all those. A cold snap and high winds on day 2 did not faze Charlie: he balanced our energies and the situation, and applied wilderness instincts to find a campsite with shelter and space to enjoy. Local lore and facts are also an Angell specialty. Beside the expert guidance, Charlie's a great cook and charming, generous guy! A hearty pasta one night and pork tenderloin night 2, as well as special touches like corn on the cob and roasted garlic all cooked well over the fire were among the menu highlights. It's possible another outfitter might have revised our itinerary, due to the cold front. But due to wisdom and verve of Angell, we had an unforgettable, wonderful trip.

We took a day-tour of East Big Bend National Park this past week with Charlie, and can't say enough about his knowledge, patience and humor... It was tha highlight of our trip!

We went on a full day rafting trip on the Rio Grande in September; just two of us. We spent five hours on the river, floating, paddling and shooting rapids with Charlie providing lunch.Charlie contacted me following my enquiry via the Visit Big Bend web site. He was the only outfitter who did. Right form the start he was keen to find what kind of trip we wanted and at what level. I am pleased to say he matched exactly what we were looking for and we had a most enjoyable experience. As pointed out by many other reviews Charlie is a very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable guide, he also made sure we had all the necesaary safety equipment. He was also helpful in suggesting hikes that we could do on our own the following day.Perhaps lunch was a bit expensive but it saved us the hassle of having to buy one or order it from our accommodation. Saying that, Charlie's home cooked pork was delicious and we were introduced to the jicama, something we hadn't tasted before. Thanks Charlie for a memorable day.

We just came back from a great Charlie Angell trip to a ranch outside of Presidio, Texas. Hiking to a cave with Indian hieroglyphics was the highlight of our trip. Charlie's knowledge of Indian lore and legend and general history of the area was excellent. We are repeat customers of Charlie's and plan on going back next year to explore Big Bend in greater depth. BTW, two of us on the trip are in our late 60's. Do not let age hold you back from trying one of Charlie's trips.

Charlie Angell was very friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced as a river guide. He can accommodate small or large groups and provides a more personal experience amongst friends rather than being part of a large group with strangers. I highly recommend him for your rafting or canoeing experience when visiting the Big Bend area.

I contacted Angell for a tour for our upcoming visit to Big Bend. He had another reservation at that time but, based on the information I gave him about our interests, suggested an itinerary. We followed his suggestions and had a fantastic time! Thank you Angell for taking the time out to help us, even though we couldn't sync up a tour -- we really appreciate it! Brian

Colorado Canyon, Redford, The Big Hill, pretty good water, some fun rapids, seven hours on the river, rafting, kayaking, eating lunch, learning about history, the birds, movies filmed in the area...Charlie is knowledgeable not only about guiding the river, but of everything that touches this country. Such a pleasant guy and such a wonderful way to spend the day. Highest recommendation.

Our adventure day with Charlie as our guide was just perfect! A jeep tour and hike to Pine Canyon, picnic lunch at Hot Springs, bird watching at the Rio Grande Village area ... full day of fun. Charlie is knowledgeable, helpful, and very accommodating ... whatever your interests or skill level is, he will find a way to make the most of your adventure. He spotted and identified birds I had never seen before, and Big Bend is famous for over 400 species.

Charlie Angell, Davis, and Dave gave us a jeep tour, complete with some hiking, to parts of Big Bend that tourists don't often see, followed two days later by a long and exciting raft trip on the Rio Grande. There were eleven in our group, and Charlie dealt with each of us safely. An informed and interesting guide, Charlie Angell is the man to call to get the most out of your Big Bend vacation.

Charles is a wonderful guide. He is not only a very easy person to be around but he is also very knowledgeable about the park, history, vegetation and animal life. We very much enjoyed our day and learned a lot too. One especially nice thing about Charles is that he is very good at tailoring the day around your interest as well as your physical abilities. He definitely knows his stuff!!

My husband and I journeyed to Marfa Tx for some Relaxation. We ended up doing a tour of Big Bend with Angell Expeditions. It was awesome and the highlight of our trip. Charlie customizes your visit based on what you want to do and your endurance. Additionally he gave us some great suggestions on other things to do in the area. We were pleased with his knowledge and his recommendations. Next time we are back we will look him up.

I have gone on 2 hiking, 1 canoeing and 1 kayaking trip with Angell Expeditions and heading back again in the fall to go on the Mexico trip! I can't wait! Charlie, owner of Angell Expeditions, is so knowledgable about the land and it's history which makes the trip a blast! One piece of advice-pay extra for Charlie to supply the lunch. Makes your trip easier and it's tasty!

Angell Expeditions was a outstanding choice for my Jeep adventure. We had an excellent time doing a little off-roading the west Texas/Rio Grande area. Charlie (The Proprietor) was a very knowledgeable guide, he was easy going and friendly. He was professional yet comfortable and assuring. We felt safe and and in good hands the entire time. The scenery of the mountains was awesome. Charlie had everything planned and picked me up right at my hotel. Afterward the tour, he picked a great restaurant in Ojinaga for Margaritas and some serious grub in a surprisingly nice eatery. Thanks so much for a great trip Charlie!!!
