This is the 2nd Caverns we've visited on Spring Breaks, the other being in Georgetown. We really liked this tour better. Seemed to be a little longer and had more history to go along with the caverns. Excellent tour guide in Mark S as well. He does other tours so we got a lot of paranormal information as well. Would do again with others if we went. They also offer other tours, Wild Tour (explore everything), Paranormal Tours, Photography Tours, etc. Nice!

pleasantly surprised by this attraction. Fabulous tour guide Leona led us on an extremely informative and interesting tour of these gorgeous canyons. Groups of 40 head out every 30 minutes, try to get near the front so you can hear everything he guides have to say. Great value, and a great way to spend the afternoon near Austin.

We took the standard 1.5 tour and it was gorgeous! Bring comfy shoes, the floor can be wet in some spots. Our group had about 30 people, try to stay near the guide so you can hear all of the information. There's a little grill and gift shop at the headquarters, but the Texas State Park Pass discount doesn't apply, the stores aren't State run. It's a quick 15 minute drive from Inks Lake, a great day trip.

Overall a great experience. I enjoyed these caverns more than Natural Bridge Caverns or Carlsbad. To me, they spoke more "Texas."Our guide, Kenneth R, was a little lame. I'm sure it's difficult to entertain large groups of unknown people, but hearing another guide speak to his group made me want to jump ship.Fun time had by all. Even snuck away afterwards to do some geocaching. Gift shop had an abundance of knicknacks, but nothing we couldn't live without.Watch for Crystal City and Marble Alley. Those were my favorite areas!

Great history here. The tour was a little over 2 hours our guide was awesome. The caverns IMO are better than Natural Bridge and some other better known across Texas. There are some good hike trails as well. If you go in the look out tower watch your head. I hit my head going up as well as 3 other people in the time I was there.

The good, the bad, and the ugly. The Ugly: the highway signs really need updated information and fresh paint. They look as if no one really cares, which is hardly the case for this awesome cave attraction. Native Texans cringe in horror when they see the poorly maintained signs to this incredibly lovely cave park. The Bad: The gift shop has too many articles made in China. While that might work well for Wal-Mart, I prefer that my state parks carry "finds" that are more native to the environment. Just sayin'...The Good: This is a wonderful location and cave tour for just about every member of the family. Hiking trails are beautifully done and simply can't be overlooked during wildflower season. The walks through the cave are safe and mostly user-friendly. Even those of us with double knee replacements have no trouble walking the cave tour. The guides are awesome; funny, smart, and should be tipped generously. They don't get paid all that much. Their presence is not only informative and educational, it is entertaining. I've been through the caves several times and each guide has been personable and understanding for those of us with slight limitations. Most are exceptionally good with small children. The cave itself is a wonder of nature. You may think rocks are boring, but wait until you're underground viewing active stalactites. You'll soon change your mind. Don't overlook this nearly-hidden treasure of the Texas Hill Country.

We enjoyed touring the caverns. The guide was fun and informative and the tour was just long enough at about 1.5 hours. Make sure and wear tennis shoes or something with a good sole on it and not slick.

The park is very natural and almost hidden in the country. There isn't a lot of fanfare at the park. It's not overdone and they kept it very natural. The caverns themselves are beautiful in a way that pictures couldn't possibly do justice. If you like nature this is a wonderful place to visit.

We visited Longhorn state park in January and met up with some extended family. While we had been to other caves over the years, they had never been "spelunking" before. We did the cave tour and hiked around the trails in the park.Hiking - Trails were great - beautiful Hill country flora and rocks. If you are into geocaching - there are a few spots along the trails. our kids really liked that.Cave - The tour lasts between 1 and 1 1/2 hrs and the most strenuous part was walking down the stairs to the cave entrance. If you can do that - you can do the tour. From Indians to Texas Rangers to Confederates to Prohibition - there is a rich storied history to the cave as well as interesting rock formations.Overall i would say that this isnt the most breath taking cave we have visited, but it had the best history and tour. The people on our visit who had never been to a cave before loved it.....and we thought it was pretty good too ;)(if you are adventuresome - there is a more strenuous exploration of the cave that involves hard hats, lights, and getting dirty)

Really interesting history, but wished there were a few more formations. Would have loved to have done the adventure tours!

Longhorn Cavern was beautiful, with a rich history. Our guide, Al, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tour is 90 minutes and accessible to anyone who can descend 52 steps and walk hunched under a few low spots during the tour. I'd give it five stars if I hadn't already toured other caves with more impressive features. It's a great place to take kids and well worth a visit.

we visited the caverns it is a long walk. had lunch there it was good a little costly. a nice gift shop also check out the castle near by

The cave itself earns Five Stars. An amazing place for adults and kids. The overall experience earns Three Stars: kind of shabby visitor facilities and guide who feels he has to entertain with political humor and goofy puns. Letting the group know how he is paid and how he works for tips? Eesh.Should you go? Yes. Just approach with certain expectations.

when we booked the tour on a thanksgiving day, we were told that the tour will last 1 hour and half. our tour was super fast and last only about 55 minutes. tour guide was rushing the entire tour. he was friendly and very informative but I wish we had the chance to spend more time in the caves.

The caverns are beautiful! It was like getting a history lesson as well as becoming a cave explorer at once. The guides are fab!!Well worth the trip!!
