We happened upon this little museum on accident as a family, and LOVED it so much we organized a field trip for our homeschool group back home. I have since been 3 times and I learn new things each time I go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

There's surprisingly a lot of interesting stuff to see here even though it's a little small. And it's the kind of things you probably haven't seen in other museums. There's a small price, but when you step outside and see all the hi-rises on your right and left up the beach, you kind of feel like you're doing your part to keep at least something from the old Virginia Beach from disappearing. Definitely worth a look inside. Pretty nice gift shop too.

I liked learning some local history here. Local art paintings and jewelry for sale at good prices. An oasis of small proportion, dwarfed between the tall seaside buildings.

This is our third visit here. Always interesting. We had a tour with the very knowledgeable guide who told a lot of interesting stories about the history of the coast guard station.

For a small admission fee, you can learn about the history of the Coast Guard and its part in protecting Virginia Beach and the surrounding area, and climb to the second floor and use the telescope to see the ocean right out the door and a close-up of any passing cargo-liners or fishing trollers. The quaint gift shop offers a variety of items to see and buy. The hours of operation make this an interesting place to duck into and enjoy.

Old Coast Guard Station is a fascinating museum on the history of the Life Saving Service. The photos and relics detail the arduous life of the surf rescue events. Well worth the time.

There was lots of information here that I did not know about how the coast guard started as well as how important it was for them to man the stations along the coast. There was some great exhibits and movies. You can easily spend a couple of hours here so it is well worth the cost.

Visited here the week after labor Day. The station is small but packed full. We arrived to start in the middle of the tour and then hear the beginning. The guide was well versed in his subject and took any questions. The movies upstairs did not all work. The gift store is small but has unique items

The Old Coast Guard Station was right next to our hotel. The staff were very sweet, we had a leisurely stroll through the museum, and bought some nice treasures in the gift shop. Very nice little piece of history in the midst of all the mammoth hotels!

This is a small station located on the Boardwalk of Virginia Beach with a little gift shop. You can take as little as 40 minutes or you can spend a couple of hours. Admission is very reasonable and well worth the price. The artifacts are truly interesting and very informative! I would go back again to see things I missed the first time!

We were actually there in May of 2012 for our rehearsal dinner. We had a catered event there on the lawn, but everyone enjoyed exploring the inside and the gift shop. They were very accommodating. Highly recommend.

Along the boardwalk is the Old Coast Guard Station, home of great music and beer during weekends at Va Beach. Bring your chair and enjoy

The history of this facility is worth the trip. Captain Moynihan USCG Ret. offers eye opening stories of the treachery and bravery of the men in the early Coast Guard. To see what they endured and they equipment used was mind boggling. To imagine someone patrolling this beach for miles without electricity and the daring rescues back in the day is amazing to say the least.
