Love the gardens and trails. Always adding new trail areas and it is a very well kept area. Great for running walking and learning about native flora!

It is a lovely place but there is a dangerous situation in that one of the bridges is very unsafe with many missing slates. The park had tried to stretch police tape over the entrance but it was torn down. An adult would notice this but a child might not, and could be seriously injured. Please repair or barricade this area ASAP. After this point it will be a 4 star attraction.Marianne Lewis

The Chesapeake Arboretum is a pleasant stroll through the woods. You might even learn something! The Arboretum has several trails, but they are not always well marked, so pay attention. However, it's not like you could get lost as the arboretum is surrounded by housing developments. Once you enter, for the most part you'd never know that you are surrounded by suburban homes. The park is in need of some repair. There were several trees that were down and one of the bridges over the creek is out of commission. If you go in a time of the year when the bugs are out, be sure to bring insect repellent as the skeeters can be quite bad.

Near to the heart of Chesapeake, can get away from the suburbia scene, but you can still hear traffic at places. Paths are mulched and terrain is level mostly. Will return occasionally.

From my research, I almost didn't go to the Chesapeake Arboretum, but I am really happy that I did. The arboretum is located in the middle of a bunch of residential neighborhoods. It is long and narrow, and a dirty creek ran through it length-wise. The trails are neatly laid out and maps are located throughout the arboretum that pin point your current location. The trails are well marked with a color signifying which part of the arboretum you are walking in. What I love most about this arboretum is that the trails are very clean and there weren't many bugs or cob webs. It could be the month, November. There is a lake, Lake Hughes, located next to the arboretum surrounded by huge homes. There is a trail that leads you to it. It is worth walking that extra very short distance. This arboretum is dog friendly. I encountered joggers and dog owners walking their dogs off leash. If you have a dog that is easily scared or unfriendly, you might want to keep an eye on dogs running loose. I only encountered a friendly lab that was running off leash. When you arrived at the park, parking is across the street. Once you parked in the gravel parking lot, look across the street. There is a sign for trail entrance. We walked the entire arboretum, it is about 2.45 miles. The parking lot is located in the center of the trail. You can either go North (to the left) or South (to the right). Either way, it will loop you back to the center.

Simply Beautiful. I enjoy the walking trail and taking photos here. This is a great place for time by yourself or to take the family. You can go exploring or watch the wildlife. Peaceful and an escape from everyday life. Centrally located in Chesapeake so you don't have to go far either!

Probably a good place to go with smaller children, not a lot of walking area to cover the whole place. Pretty much all under trees so out of the sun. In the middle of various houses, once you reach the edge you see yards so just turn around. Saw some wildlife around. Glad I visited just to see what was there.

Soft, padded wood chip trails. Well maintained and very few people use. Excellent location for Value Place guests.

The trail is attached to an old property. You must have good shoes, and the right weather gear. It is buggy ( it's the woods) , there is poison ivy (it's the woods!!) Take water and enjoy a walk among some old trees- check yourself for ticks afterward. If you are a naturalist, you will love it. If you are a city kid, well, it's the woods!!!

Site is very easy to get to with accessible parking. Very nice walk winding through trees so on a hot and humid day it is a relief. Walk is as easy or difficult as you want to make it. Good for families. Bring bug spray if going later in the day.

Run. Bike. Walk. The trails aren't too long and it's a great reason to leave the house. Check for ticks after you leave in the summer time and maybe use mosquito spray if you plan in being out for a while. NO bathrooms, either!! (But there's a McDonalds and a grocery store less than 2 min away.)

I go here multiple times a week. The staff grooms the approximately 3 miles of trails on a regular basis. I forget I am in the middle of the city when I run. Can't say enough good things about the park.

Great place to get the kids outside and running. There is miles of trails and all are kid friendly. Just make sure you pay attention to the signs and do not get lost!

Try to visit in the early spring or late fall- mosquitoes are so big they could carry off small children:)

My kids and I went here with a friend and her children last summer. We had a blast. The kids love running along the paths and exploring. They thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the various butterflies in the butterfly exhibit (and the volunteers there were more than happy to entertain lots of questions and teach the kids all kinds of fun facts.) We spent over an hour just letting the kids run through the water area.
